I find it interesting that people do such extreme things to their bodies for attention. What kind of people do they want to attract and what "Mission" are they on? Will they be comfortable with their pierces and tattoo's when they are seniors?

It isn't necessarily because they want attention, though that is one of the reasons. Some people think the piercings and tattoos look nice. Some people see their body as another thing to decorate. Many consider their bodies to be a canvas, and the tattoos to be art. Some people want to make a statement about who they are and what they like, and make themselves different from everyone else. And some people like the pain and adrenaline rush associated with the tattooing and piercing process.

When people ask me about my tattoo's and piercings I just say my piercings can be taken out, and healed, and as for tattoos, don't look at them. But at the same time, depending on the company I'm in I decide if tattoo's wouldn't be appropriate to be revealed. And on the other hand when someone says what about when your 80 years old with all the tattoos? I just simply say everyone else in my generation is going to have them too, not like some are just going to disappear. lol

Hi i have 9 holes in my right ear, represents how many are in my family, i have 7 children one is hubby's younger brother, i have 5 holes in my left ear, for how many times i was pregnant. I also have 6 tattoos, all but one are small, the frogs on my lower back, represent hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. You can only see mine if i want you to see them, and they all have meaning to me. I also have my tongue pierced, and that was for the hubby's benefit, lol he seems to enjoy it. Anyway my opinion is that tattoos and piercings aren't for everyone, but its each indiviual's choice to make those decisions.

These are the "type" of people who don't care about what others' think. It is done for themselves. There is no mission I promise.
:) And I don't think about being a senior much. Why would I care about them then if I love them now?

Not all people do it for attention. It's self-expression. You do it for yourself, not others.
I don't know a single person who's gotten piercings and/or tattoo's for attention or rebellion for that matter. They did it for themselves because they like it and want it.

i agree...its all about who you are. you may not see the reason behind what they do but at the same time they might not understand things you do...so in other words...you do your thing and they'll do thiers.

They think they look cool but really they just look like freaks and it makes them really unattrative in my option
