i cooked up some plantin tonight but it had been kept in the fridge, it didn't taste right so im guessing that wasn't the right place to store it

I normally keep mine on the kitchen counter until ready to use. Plantains tend to absorb odors and flavors in the fridge and out, so try to keep them away from other produce, esp apples and onions, as they speed up the ripening process.

For green plantains I usually make Tostones, which is a twice fried and smashed crunchy side.

For ripened plantains I ususally just cut them into about 1-11/2 inch peices and fry them in canola oil until browned, about 4 minutes @ 350 degrees.

Listen honey
You cook plantain and eat it the same day....if you keep it in the fridge you are supposed to WARM IT UP before you eat it. It aint a sandwhich.

ok keep plantin out just like you would with a banana. you can boil plantain you could fry it or bake it

Store it on the veg rack. Dekicious lightly fried with egg or deep fried like chips. yum yum

Do not refrigerate plantains unless they are at the stage you wish to use them, or they will stop ripening.
