Thou shalt not bear false witness.
If you believe that the theory of Evolution is not a legitimate theory then you must not teach it.
If you believe that the theory of Evolution is a legitimate theory then you must teach it.
Kind of gets us back to where we started.
Many Christians, including Catholics, believe that the Bible contains religious truth but not always historical fact.
The Creation stories in Genesis tell the religious truth that God created the world and it was good.
The Catholic Church (hopefully) has learned it lesson and now proclaims that religion and science can coexist and complement each other.
Catholics can believe in the theory of evolution. Or not. The Church does not require belief in evolution.
Evolution is the most scientifically sound explanation of God's creation at this time. Tomorrow someone may come up with a better theory.
With love in Christ.

There have been 2 "givens" for you to embrace at the same time. One is that creation took a week and was an instant manifestation. Check the moon's cycle to the sun's and you will know how long a day is in Heaven (28), so the actual Genesis meditation took about 6 months of our time. The 2nd is the scientific analysis of our apparent physical history. To embrace both is to hold paradox in your mind, and that is a fundamental part of attunement with divinity. Think of it this way: If only the 1st given was applicable, there'd be no geologists, botanists, astronomers, physicists, archaelogists, etc. They'd be all standing around complaining about how there's no work in the vineyards. And that would serve HIS purposes how?

I don't know about being "against" the 10 commandments; but knowing that the theory of evolution does not teach us that we are descended from God, wouldn't you assume that it isn't a very good idea? I would.

thou shall not teach science. This is a commandment a lot of people follow, but it isn't in the 10.

The only people who think so are the ones who loudly proclaim that evolution is a lie. They are the ones who say that teaching Evolution is lying or "bearing false witness."
They're also closed-minded and deluding themselves.

LMAO @ kenny's answer. however um... if "thou shalt not lie" is one, then that can be taken a few different ways as evolution isnt a proven fact but more a theory in the process of discovery still. so it could be lying? but so could telling kids there is a god.

I'm getting concerned about you buddy. Your infatuation with debunking Christianity will achieve nothing. And constantly doing the 'evolution thing', what's up with that? If you really want to hear it then go to a church or religious study group and LEARN

Honoring God as the !st commandment states taken to its logical conclusion means taking God at His Word. It is also amplified by Jesus own words. So get into the Word and believe every word as if it came from God Himself and you perspective on life changes to greater optimism.
You may find that hard to believe given the position you have taken on the internet, but it pays to let God prove Himself to you by being more objective about Him.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:9-10

Only religious fanatics will say so, but I think it's a ridiculous argument. It's just a scientific theory, what can it hurt to teach it? People can make up their own minds about it.
