My mom suggested putting a generous layer of Vick's all around the affected area. She said it has something to do with suffocating the fungus. I think petroleum jelly will do the job, too. Regardless of how it works, I'm glad it does, and I'm glad I'm not the only one that's heard of this solution. Also, it's remarkable for keeping your feet warm. And it really is good for your sinuses. I would never be able to sleep with a cold if I didn't have any.

My twin sister had the same problem and was using lamisil for over a year, all it does is damage the liver. It never cured my toe fungus and the discoloration. She was getting a manicure done on her finger and the lady told her to cut the nail back as far as she could ( don't let anyone else use the clippers either) dig out the fungus as good as she could and put javex on the area witha q tip. It took about three months but it is completly gone and no reoccurance. It also takes long because you have to wait for the nail to grow and dig the fungus out... I sware it worked for her!!

Rub on Vicks each nite and leave open to the air. Also tea tree oil is a strong anti-fungal. Are your nails getting discolored from colored nail polish? You can buy tea tree oil in some pharmacies, grocery stores, and for sure health food stores.

you need to use lamisil for several months and sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. best bet would be prescription antifungals from the doctor which you would be on for a minimum of a couple months, but it would likely work if you took the medication as directed. ive heard of people using vicks as several others already mentioned, im not sure if thats effective or not

If it's toenail fungus that turns your nail yellow, brittle and just plain ugly, use Vicks VapoRub daily. It takes about a year for the nail to grow out completely.

If the Vick's Vapor Rub doesn't do it, you can always take the more daring route, and have the nails pulled!
I did it. They grew out normally.

Best of luck!
