im having a really hard time placing music in the ceremony. I have it mostly all figured out but after the beginning part of the service where there's the declaration of intentions (done by the minister) and then the vows, would it be a good place to have music?

My answer for this is that I've been to a wedding where music was played during the actual ceremony and it's nice, but not always neccessary. If you're taking communion or lighting a candle, then it's ok. Otherwise, do you NEED it at that part?

No, the intentions lead right into the vows. You only want to play music during a natural break into the speaking. For example, when you light the unity candle. There isn't much need for music DURING the ceremony, though, so don't worry about it if you only have music before and after.

In order to answer this question thoroughly I would have to know what kind of ceremony you are having.... however based on what you have stated so far the place you wish to put in the music should be acceptable.

Generally special music and/or poems are put in at (or around) the same time as you would do unity candle lighting if you did that. (which is indeed in the middle of the ceremony)

A lot of people add music in between the intentions and the vows - my mom is asked to sing at a lot of her friends' weddings, and she usually sings an aria or something in between, just before the vows.

Not sure when in the ceremony you mean exactly but some of my favorite wedding songs are...

Ribbon in the Sky... Sorry, can't remember
From this Moment... Shania Twain
My Girl...
You had me from Hello...Kenny Chesney
When I said I do... Clint and Lisa Hartman Black
Unforgettable ... Natt King Cole

That's all I have for now... hope it helps! And Congrats!

Ask the person who is providing your music, I'm sure they've done this a million times before. If not they better be free.
