I agree that Weight Watchers is good. It doesn't starve you from one certain thing and that can stop cravings for chocolates and stuff. The meetings helps as well in case you feel like a bit of motivation and it's great when you loose weight and get the praise you deserve. They also have an online companion that helps keep track of what you've eaten, I've heard that men preferr this than a note book or similar.

I'm a firm believer of not cutting out any food groups as in the long run it wont work and will result in a yo yo effect when you start again or it can make you ill.

You can try the GI diet as well.

Loosing weight can be easy with the right motivation and discipline, you have to basically eat better and healthier and exercise more.

Actually, here is something that will work and you can still eat everything that you like.

Have 2 meals a day... the first meal, you eat what you want, and 8 hours later have a smaller 2nd meal if you get hungry again. If you don't get hungry, then don't eat anything again until the next day.

I've done this already for a week now and have lost 2.5 pounds. It really works. You don't put on any weight either when you keep doing this, regardless of what you eat.

Atkins is definitely a diet that appeals to men. Steaks, chicken, chops, bacon, eggs, veggies etc Foods that will keep him feeling full and don't look or taste like 'diet' food.A lot of men feel on principle that things like salad and yogurt are 'chick-food'. The beauty of low carb diets is that you can eat out in virtually any restaurant without making it evident you are dieting. It's not a big deal to have a steak without fries or bread. In addition, after the induction period, alcohol can be included in the diet as long as you make sure it's low carb beer or shorts with a diet mixer. The ability to be able to have a drink or eat out in public without announcing they're on a 'diet; can be a make or break situation for men. Rightly or wrongly, society accepts the idea of women being on diets but is often less sympathetic to men in the same situation.

What works for me is to take 1500 calories, and cut it up into 3 meals and 2 snacks, at about 400 and 150 calories, respectively. I eat something every couple hours. It keeps the metabolism up, but still results in a calorie deficit.

Also shoot for 30% of the calories (not grams) from carbs, 30% of the calories from protien, and 10% of the calories from fat. You will find that this will mean cutting corners. Maybe switch from ground beef to ground turkey, or use herbal seasonings instead of sugary sauces. There's a lot of info out there about how to stick to a 30-30-10 diet.

Throw in some excercise (yes its mandatory) and he'll be losing weight in no time. He just has to train himself to eat till "not hungry" instead of eating till he's full.

If you want to loose excess weight, you need to modify your diet to some extent by cutting down on calories. But make sure that it is nutritious, or else it will only increase your appetite and make you feel hungry, when your main goal is trying to loose weight. Exercising regularly is equally important. For long term fat loss, the exercise program should consist of a combination of weight training and aerobic exercises. I think most men get on best with Atkins, with all the meats..
Although to be honest, I think it's an unhealthy diet, BUT it does seem to shift the weight.
Good luck to your hubby! :o)
