The microwave have blue flashes and a wierd noise. The microwave will break.

The oscillating electric field in the microwave will induce currents inside any conductive object. Microwave an AOL free trial CD (or any other CD you don't care about) for 5 seconds (label side up) and see what happens.

With a fork I would expect lots of sparks, and I imagine the fork will get very hot. The metallic object also poses a big risk. When the electrons are excited by a microwave, they can de-excite by re-emitting it. Thus metallic objects can act as microwave-mirrors. Reflecting the microwaves back to the magnetron can cause permanent damage, or possibly even a fire.

I have to admit I've done it with both a metal fork & a plastic fork =(

A metal forks starts sparking & popping and making all kinds of god awful sounds! It's horrible. The plastic fork just melts =/

any metal in a microwave will cause serious damage..Not a good forking idea....

No, but I heard of a local elderly woman who accidentally burnt her house down by doing that.
