It could very well be constipation, or dehydration. It can also be a sign of stress & worry.

Stress/Worry: Is she concerned about school, about friends, or are there any traumatic issues going on at home?

Dehydration: Is she peeing enough? Give her 2 glasses of water/ginger ale at the time of pain and see if it dissapears.

Constipation: This can cause severe stomach pains. If you think she may be constipated, try adding fluids and fiber to her diet. You can get chewable 'metamucil wafers' for the extra fiber. You can also ask your physician if he can recoomend a mild laxative to relive the symptoms.

Good Luck!

Several things can cause this. She may have an allergic reaction to something she is eating or it could be stress because of school etc. Some children complain of stomach aches to get out of school or because they don't want to do something they are doing. Also, if she is not getting enough fruit or fiber and water in her diet she could be constipated.

I would take a look at what is going on in her life. Does she get the stomach aches around the time she needs to be at school? Is it when she is asked to do certain things? Or is it after she has eaten? If it is the last, I would get a second opinion from a doctor and if it is the first, I would find out what is stressing the child.

You should give more details.Has she eaten anything specifically before she started having these stomach aches? Ask her where it's hurting. The belly button & below the belly button area would mean that the pain is coming from the intestines, and above the belly button would mean the pain is coming from the stomach. It's possible that it is food poisoning or she could have eaten something expired or something she's allergic to like milk, etc. How long, exactly has she been having these stomach aches? Seeing as this has been going on for some time now and hasn't passed yet, I think the best thing to do is to check her out at the doctor, because it's nearly impossible for us to be able to diagnose her from online and little information.

I just asked a very similar question less than a minute ago. My daughter is also seven and complains daily of a stomache ache. She says she vomits into her mouth several times a day. The doctor said it is probably stress and to have her relax as he doesn't want to put her on any more medications. She takes several for asthma and allergies. I am not satisfied with this diagnosis and am worried. It doesn't seem right for a little girl to have to have a stomache ache every day.

Problems with the organs in the abdominal region i.e. the digestive system, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, appendix and kidney could be the main reasons for a bad stomach ache. Gastroenteritis can give you a severe stomach ache, while stomach pain from cancer may only be mild. I found a lot of great information on causes of stomach pain and its treatment at http://tinyurl.com/l9k9x

I used to get that at age 10.

You'll be amazed though what that was. It was a gall stone trying to pass. Yes, a gall stone. Not lying here.

When i was in my early 20's , i had to have my gall bladder removed and afterwards the doctor told me that the stones were building up since i was a child.

Yes, what happens is that our diets contain too much fat, and that is what causes the stones to build up quicker than normal.

change the diet and you'll reduce the fat content and the gall stones will not happen as often as before.

maybe it's something she's eating.... i'm not very sure why she gets the pain around her belly button, that's kind of odd, but anyways ask her to be more specific if she can to the doctor or just get another doctor and both compare both of their thoughts of what's causing the pain and why.

You daughter may have a stomache virus. I suggest that you tell her to eat a lot of crackers, and drink a lot of fluids. If this continues, take your daughter to the doctor again. Also, keep record of when she has stomaches.

If you can't find a cause, it could be food allergies. Lots of doctors aren't too hip to food allergies. Pick up a book on the subject and see if your child fits. p.s. "growing pains" occur in the bones.
