As a Christian, I don't see how any cross tattoo could be bad. Maybe he could do it in blue, if he's really concerned.
To those that cite Leviticus as scripture against tattoos, I hope you don't eat pork or go to the bathroom in the wrong spot, because there are tons of rules in Lev. that you most likely break quite often. Jesus wanted us to live humanely, not legalistically. Our church holds tattoo events annually.

There's nothing wrong with a black cross. Go to a different artist. If that's all he can come up with he doesn't sound like a very good artist.

a black cross is not evil. black is just a color. a color in itself is not evil. it all depends on the motivation behind the black cross. you have nothing to worry about.

wellll he could get the prior tattoo removed first. and otherwise, color may be a symbol to some and others it isnt. yellow to us is fear and to chinese it represents death, white represents purity while black represents darkness or unpure/unholy. but thats how some people see it. in my opinion god gave us colors we shouldnt be ashamed to use them because some people think that one color represents osmething.

As far as I know, they can 'burn' off anything OTHER than white.
I don't know anything about black being evil. But i suppose 'covering' it up might be cheaper than 'burning' it off.

um no. alot of people get that because color is extra doe so lots of people get it black and its not evil unless you use it/ur body for evil so ur all good.
