I like the Care Credit card.. It is only for vet care, and gives you up to 18 months to repay with no interest..the problem with pet insurance, is that they require YOU to make the payment up front, and then reimburse your payment, with a deductible...
with Care Credit, you have the credit you need for any emergent situation, so don't have to have cash on hand..
go to > http://www.carecredit.com/patients/whatis.htm
click on 'find a provider'..choose 'veterinary', and put in your zip code.

Argos pet Insurance is very good, it was cheaper than Asda,Tesco and Pet Plan the first pet insurance i had was with More Than they are a few pound more but they do insure the animal for life,

Most insurance companies only insure for 7 or 8 yrs my dogs are 5yrs so in the next year or so i will go back to More Than.
Try doing a google search you may get a good deal on line, do make sure you read all the small print dont just go with the cheapest.
Good luck hope you and your puppy are happy together

If you're in the U.S., we recommend Pets Best. When we researched it, we found that we got the most bang for our buck (i.e. reasonable premiums, high coverage). I just double-checked and if finances are an issue, they have accident programs that start at $5.75/month.

We chose to go with the health plan, as well, and pay a few more dollars per month so that we could have the $75 deductible (as opposed to the $200 deductible), since it was a per-incident deductible.

After lost a dog to cancer and gone through a car accident (and all the related vet bills) with him, I really do feel better knowing that I can just tell the vet to do whatever it takes if something goes wrong. Best wishes!

hi there,

Petplan, I have for 21 years used this insurance company, for the best and cheapest cover. My Dad, when I bought my second German Shepherd Dog, did a survey around all the other pet insurance companies and petplan came out the best.

Most Vets recognise petplan when doing claims direct.

My second GSD had have an stomach cancer removed and the bill came to £2,609 and all I paid was £118.00, she has since died and had to be put to sleep as the cancer had returned, my vet are going to claim for this under the same treatment as before and therefore it helps with the cost of the sad and final injection.

M&S are who I'm with. I pay £10.24 since I insured my dog when he was 8 weeks old, which was 5 months ago. Shortly after we took out the policy, he became ill, and in 2 months, ran up £900 worth of fee's...they paid out swiftly, and were very helpful whenever I called. They have "life cover" too, which is VERY important, as if your dog gets a life long condition (as my dog has) they agree to cover him for it for life...whereas some companies will only pay up to 7 years, which is awful, because no other company will ever insure a dog which has a pre-existing condition, so you'd end up having to pay for all further treatment yourself.

petplan or healthy pets are good, make sure you you get a policy with lifleong cover for any illness. some cheaper ones will exclude cover for an illness after a year, so a long term illness like diabetes etc wont be covered. Some also offer 'vets bill' only cover which is good if you don't want overseas cover, death and cover for lost etc. Hope this helps and good luck with your puppy

PETPLAN. i have this for my rabbit and when he was poorly - it cost us £50. petplan picked up the rest £346. Good eh? we pay £6.99 a month so it is well worth it. there is no problem over payment either. we just submitted the form to the vets and 10 days later we had the money. (we opted to pay as we went along and claim at the end cos we were unsure as to how much it would be as Fluffly seemed to recover, then be poorly, recover, be poorly etc). By the way he is happy and well now.

Hi
petplan is good for us - our puppy had only been insured about a fortnight when he broke his leg - they were wonderful - it would have cost hundreds of pounds - always check the cover carefully - some of the cheaper ones dont give such good protection- I hope you never need to claim!
