Why don't people realize that the bible explains its self and to understand it you have to compare scripture with scripture, and not with your corrupt opinions (KJV/Hebrew/Greek bible only)?

So, in thinking critically about the bible, you decided to blindly accept it and not even consider other opinions?

I don't think you understand the term "critical thinking," sweetheart.

It's one of those things in life. If people all think the same, there would be no variety. Everyone cannot think the same way. That's why we have all these things that we have and all these inventions. We have cassettes, cd, dvds, bluerays, psp, ipod etc They all have one thing in common. They can all play music and movies. If the inventors all decided to make one media format, most people would suffer because either one group of people could not afford it or they didn't have the player. You get me? The same idea applies to thinking. I don't mean to attack your idea and I know that it's good to think critically but everyone cannot do it. We all think differently and that's what makes us humans or people. The idea of people not realizing that the bible explains itself and not understanding that you cannot compare scripture with corrupt opinions can be traced to the tower of babylon in my idea. When God gave them different languages, he probably gave them different ideas, thinking, etc. You get me? Culture and language also affect ideas and thinking. I hope I've been able to convince you that we cannot have the same thinking.

I find all scripture is like prescription medicine, given to a particular person or people at a particular time for a spicific purpose. A saint i met said there is no new truth, just different ways of expressing the same truth.

The scriptures are to be expounded upon, else they serve no purpose. This is what a preacher does---he proclaims the word of God. I agree that the comments of a blooming idiot serve no purpose but to identify that person as a blooming idiot. People can learn through mistaken thinking, but there is far too much crapola being spouted off today, particularly on this site.

Hopefully the "answers" you recieved already show you that thinking itself is hard to find in this forum, let alone critical thought. Most are lulled into the easy life of living life their own way. It requires less effort or knowledge on their part. When you suggest to them that they aren't putting forth an effort, that tends to upset them and they respond with the non-responses you've gotten above.

Thanks for being a critical thinker. Keep studying. There are those of us out there that recognize your effort.

Peace fellow believer.

Alas, Biblical scholarship is sorely lacking in most of Christendom today. It's been replaced by pop psychology and feel good axioms, a sort or Reader's Digest religion.

You are blessed to be able to discern the difference. Here is an entire library that you will find interesting.

Otherwise known as begging the question, dude. Ponder this one with me: If I say, "I am the smartest person on Y!A, and to prove it I am going to compare myself to, let's say, JUST ME." Does that make sense?

Part A of the Bible is true because part B says it is? That's out there, even for a fundamentalist. At least most of your counterparts dismiss the need to justify the truth of the Bible--you think you can justify it with itself. Huh?

so do the harry potter books? what is your question?
so does islam and buddhism, again what specifically are you asking? I don't believe stoning a child for disobediance is a good idea but it is in the bible. I don't believe in slavery but it is in the bible.
I have an open mind I try and look at all religions as a way to find my path to God.
I don't believe that every nonjew that was born and died before Christ came to earth is roasting in hell because they had the misfortune to be born to early.
Just my opinion
good day to you and God bless

People who criticize it only look for negativity therefore they are close-minded because they are negative individuals. They will never rise above it. These people are not searching or the truth because they are blinded from it. God has given them over to a reprobate mind so it's too late for them and no one can help!

God bless.

People who think critically take everything into account. When you take everything into account, everything becomes complicated! Each scripture(Chapter) has views from a different person/disciple. Each person interprets the teachings differently.

People fail to think critically think for many reasons:

1. They don't know how
2. They're lazy & comfortable
3. They're afraid to do so
4. They're too proud to admit they could be wrong
5. They're too much in the habit of not thinking critically that the thought never even occurs to them to try it
6. etc.
