Tell your parental figure you feel it is disrespectful for your little brother to make a costume like that and ask them to talk to him about it. Little brothers have a hard time following big sister's advice even when they are right.

I find it impossible to believe that any 10 year old would translate the celebrated Steve Irwin into a Halloween figure. If he has, then you need to prompt your parents to do some seroius parenting in terms of teaching your brother respect for the deceased. You know how out of order this suggestion is, otherwise you would not be mentioning it. Now you have had the shock effect from Yahoo answers and can imagine the guffaws of laughter go and get on with your homework!!

Steve Irwin was a very loved, liked entertainer. I think he would be proud to have little fans wanting to be him. I think the bin liner sting ray might not be exactly appropriate. Try to pursuade him to be Steve Irwin with another exciting animal.. like a crocodile or something ;)

Is he aware that Steve Irwin died? This would seem rather insensitive to dress up as Steve Irwin given the recent news and devastation this has caused his family.
Although he might not understand the seriousness of it all, you should tell your little brother this, and maybe get him to dress up as a jungle hunter or something similar.

There's not much you can do. This is totally up to your parents. It's not your call. However, you should very clearly express your feelings about this to everyone involved- brother included - in a civil and rational way. Explain that you think it's in poor taste and may upset some neighbors and their children Characters chosen for Halloween costumes are usually meant to scare people especially those worn by 10 year olds . I don't know your brother but most boy's of this age group pick costumes sole intended to scare others. He may be sensitive and if you point these facts out to him he may change his mind. On the other hand if he is not considerate of others then warn him that he may alienate neighbors and their children. There may be consequences! That's the best you can do.

Explain to your 10 year old brother that Steve was a man who loved animals and should not be used to try and scare other children. Steve was a great man who used his talent to bring the animal kingdom to those that could not venture out into the different areas of the world.

By all means allow him to dress up for Halloween as Steve Irvine. Just make sure that he has a long tail attached!

could be quite offensive to some people so how about suggesting he went as one of steves favourite animals instead. Just make out it would be really hard to make him look like steve irwin & much easyer to look like a croc or koala,
