(There are 613 "commandments" in Judaism.) Slavery was never forbidden, but you will find God's laws for slavery throughout the Bible. "Slaves" must be treated as family members. Slaves and work animals must be given a day of rest on the sabbath. Slaves must be freed on the 7th year with enough resources for survival. I think the first commandment about being treated as family pretty much covers everything! Unfortunately, Christians are not bound by the law. Jesus certainly didn't do any favors for American slaves in the South!
Not only does the Bible demand protection for the "slaves," it holds leaders accountable. Sometimes "turning the other cheek" and "love your neighbor" doesn't do the trick! Fortunately our American forefathers had the good sense to include justice.

The Egyptians didn't honor or believe in the 10 Commandents, so what good would it be to include a ban on slavery? We are all slaves to something from time to time, even when we don't want to admit it. When we are obedient to God, loving Him, we are free from that slavery. Jesus said the most important command was to love God with all of our being.

The 10 commandments are all about loving your fellow humans as much as you love yourself! It goes with out saying that slavery does not fit in with that train of thought. God does not even "own" us. He gives us free will to make our life one of redemption or damnation. He would not need to tell us that trying to own another is wrong if we loved our brother as ourself.

The Bible promotes working to provide for family and life. The modern-day equivilant of slavery is employment.
The Bible does condemn unrighteous cruelty, however. For that, cruel slave owners and cruel empoyers will answer to God.
There were (are) many slave owners (employers) who were (are) benevolent.
"Love thy neighbor as you love yourself" covers it as onpart of the greatest commandment. It's the basis of the golden rule.

Because if they had, the Bible would be known as (this space intentionally left blank).
The bible was invented by the rich & powerful to justify their use of power. And, to keep poor people in their places.
The Ten Commandments do not prohibit rape, either.

Yeah, right. 8 of the 10 aren't even illegal. They also don't include rape, molestation, arson, and physical abuse. But whatever you do, DON'T FORGET THE SABBATH !!!!
