And why do people say he was just a good person or a prophet? He claimed to be God, so he can't be a prophet. Please give me good answers as to why you say Christ did not exist or why he isn't God, because all I have seen are empty answers.

The reason you receive empty answers is that they can't find reasons to disprove Jesus' existence because he was an historical figure, as you pointed out. Whether they accept him as Lord and Saviour is something else.

You are simply incorrect when you suggest there is corroboration for the Jesus story in Roman documents. That is absolutely false. There is no contemporary reference to anyone named Jesus. To assert this, you are either blindly passing along falsehoods you have been told but are unequipped (or uninterested) to research for yourself, or you are simply lying. Neither one reflects well on you personally or on your faith.

For all of those self-righteous morons who take it for granted that his existence can be historically proven, either produce your evidence or shut the heck up. It's not enough for you to say the proof exists (the same way you claim Jesus did) without actually putting some genuine evidence out there. Provide a link to the documents you are basing this on, or face the reality that you are just guessing based on what makes you feel good.

(And for the well-read individual who mentions Josephus, it should be pointed out that Josephus makes no clear allusion to any Jesus in his writings, although he refers to other, similar figures, who held themselves up to the people as a messiah and came to unhappy ends.)

Christ did exist, but he was nothing more than a man who played the same role for the jews that martin luther king did for the blacks.

Its also a fact that the romans killed him; so the fact that they had documents of it isn't a surprise.

I'm an atheist and even I know he existed, but I don't believe him to be any kind of god because there is no evidence to support that belief. The bible doesn't count because no one can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the words contained therein are true. Faith is also irrelevant because it is nothing more than an opinion.

I am atheist. I do believe there was a man named Jesus who THOUGHT he was the messiah. Just like hundreds of others during that time period. I believe he was a very influential speaker. He talked about the things that the peolpe of that time cared about. Almost like being a politician in the US. They tell you what you want to hear so you will vote for them. He also convinced many people to see things that were not there, or to believe in miracles that did not happen. Much like the Faith Healers of today. There were many "shills" in the audience when he was speaking. When these "shills" started seeing things and were "healed" by Jesus, people started to believe. Again, much like the Faith healers of today. If you were in a group of 1000 people and 995 of them say saw a flying elephant, and you know that you didnt see it, would you go along with them? would you argue with 995 hallucinating people?
He could have used illusions, like todays magicians. I have seen some that have made the Staute of Liberty disappear. I have seen some levetate. Is it real? No. Its magic.
He could have used drugs to get people to believe what he said or to believe they were seeing things they didnt actually see. One drop of acid in your drink today would make you see all kinds off cool s***. Whos to say he didnt do all that?
Well, of course, he is Jesus, he wouldnt ddo things like that, right? Unless he was a fraud(no offense)
Take, for example, david korecsh and the Branch Davidians. He claimed he was the new Messiah, he convinced 51 people that he was as well. Those 51 people died for him. They died because they thought he was what he said he was. Was he the new Messiah? No. But yet these people still believed. Why? Because Korecsh had the charn and charisma to convince the weak minded(again, no offense) that he was what he claimed.
Its not exactly the same scale as Jesus, but Ihope you get my point. there have been many people who claim they are/were the Messiah, all have been false. Why should we pick one and make him the true Messiah?
This is just my thoughts and opinions. Not meant to offend, but you asked.

The reason I know jesus wasn't god is that god doesn't exist. Plain and simple. The mythical god of the OT was a god of war:

Exodus 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name

who slaughtered millions of men, women, children, and babies by his own hand or through human agents. Then jesus comes along and says to love everyone and turn the other cheek. It's a completely different conception of god.

The only "evidence" that he was god was that he claimed to be so. And those claims were written about 70 years after he died, so who knows what he really said? The bible can't even get straight where he went after the sermon on the mount, who saw him 1st after he was in the tomb, how many times the c-ock crowed, his last words on the cross, etc... so why should I believe that every one of the statements attributed to him is true?

--there is no historical validation of King Herod’s supposed slaughter of Jewish children at the time of Jesus’s alleged birth;
--the Gospels do not provide any physical description of Jesus;
--the year of Jesus’ birth is unknown and, based on available evidence, indeterminable;

I won't say that Jesus didn't exist. The real question is - Was he the Son of God? Jesus could have just been a very good philosopher who was doing what he believed to help the world. But to believe that he was a God with Godly powers - that requires some extraordinary proof.

Who said that Jesus didn't exist? He existed but as a man just like me or you. Many people have claimed to be God does that mean they are Gods?

He isn't God because there is no God. Simple.

Second, he claimed to be the Jewish Messiah, and yet, he failed to meet the requirements -- for one, he claimed to be the Son of God, which goes directly against Jewish teaching.

He existed, but he was just a mortal man who had a decent lesson to teach until he went insane and developed (if you'll pardon the irony) the original christ complex.

I think any educated person knows Jesus existed.

Feeling about Jesus are personal. If you want mine, I have a hard time separating why Jesus was different than many other religious figures in history. I don't believe he's a messiah, I don't believe he was sent to die for me...

I will be thumbs downed many times for not agreeing with you, but I will be okay. I am capable of tolerance.

If you believe in Christ as Savior, you should cherish that, and not worry about anyone else.

It is a historical fact that Jesus existed. But Jesus never claimed to be God...He referred to God as his Father.. And God is considered to be the father of man...Therefore, I believe Jesus was a man..A truly wonderful, insightful, kind, and giving man with a deeply religious soul, but a man none the less. sc
