My boyfriend of 5 years has it, and suffers quite a bit and some of my family members really cannot seem to comprehend the severity of it.

I've got a tradesman "push through the pain" type of father who just can't understand.

He hates it that I am the financial and domestic supporter of the household.

He does like my boyfriend but just has never gotten over it.

How can I make him understand?

The best way to explain it I have found is to have them remember last time they had a real bad case of the flu only this one never goes away and couple that with a 2nd degree sun burn thats how sensitive you feel try that for starters more if needed best wishes gorbalizer

I have had a few fibromylagia patients and I understand their pain, the isolation and their frustration. No one believes that there really is something wrong. It may help if you go to a website for fibromyalgia. I think there is one for a national foundation and you can request printed information or download the same. Call a family meeting and have your boyfriend present as well. Prepare in advance what you will both say. Hand out the information and open the floor to discussion, questions and answers. The sites you look at will most likely deal with this very issue. It's a little understood and misunderstood condition that seems to affect women more often than men. I wish you both loads of luck especially with your father. I well know the type.
