Does it take for the stitches to go away and for you to have sex

four to six weeks, it hurt me even after the check up.

They say to wait at least 6 weeks. The stitches should be out by 3 wks. If it was a natural birth and not a c- section.

The stitches should dissolve in 7 to 10 days. They recommend no sex for 6 weeks bu no one lasts that long.

i too had stitches i never really gave much thought to when the stitches went away b/c they never really bothered me but as for the sex i waited until my 6 week check up for the doctor to tell me everything looked good and had healed..after the okay, my fiance was happy!! : ) we didn't wait any longer, it was the same day as the check up-take it slow at first b/c it did hurt a little at the beginning but after a few minutes the hurt feeling went away and it was all good..lol

the stitches can take up to 6 weeks
as far as having sex well my stitches were put in wrong my daughter just turned 3 and it still hurts so it all depends on you your body and if your doctor knew what he was doing.

6 weeks for sex if your doctor approves and the stitche should go away i n about a week or two

Stitches were gone in about 10 days...only waited about 24 days and then started having sex again. Very, very gently. Didn't hurt me.

Wait 6 weeks. It takes 6 weeks for the cervix to return to it's prior state. And about that time for the stitches to dissolve.
You can really hurt yourself if you have sex too soon after delivery.

about 4-6 weeks for stitches, 6 weeks for sex - after you first GYN appointmnet after the baby.

i have a 5 wk. old and a three year old. i think the stitches disolve after about 3 wks. you prob. could have sex but the dr. says wait 6 wks. and i'm assuming it's for a good reason.
