I live in the southwest, Arizona to be more precise, and you see all sorts of funky-colored houses in my town. There is a pink and blue one, a bright green one, a yellow and white one, etc... My husband and I are thinking of painting our house either sage and lavender, or blue and lavender.
Colors are fun!

My development is all brick homes with siding on the garage area and the roof. Brick varies from dark red up to an light ash gray. All the siding is an off white. I can only imagine the response from the HOA if somene changed the colors without permission.

Live in country also. Get a color u like usually a darker color and trim with a lighter color. Or u can have lighter color as main color and trim with a darker one. Ours white home, trim green. Just don't do any wild colors that u don't normally see.
