Why do people first think of 72 virgins when they hear about islam?

they make it sound like thats the most important thing in islam, when its not.

Females are treated so well in Islam, its just that since 1 group of people treat them bad, stupid christians assume they are all treated bad.

virgins does not pertain to females only. It can mean anything pure, clean, undefiled, unadulterated, free from any sickness.
what puzzle me is why 72, not 71 or 73 or others.
if you add 7 & 2m u get 9!
9 is the last numeral having the meaning of material or spiritual completeness. any number added to 9 will make that number return to its original count. sample:4 +9=13,.(1+3=4) etc.
in the bible, the mark of the beast or the anti christ is 666, if added together, it is 18 or 1+8=9.
is 18 or 81 a material completeness while 27 or 72 is spiritual completeness?

I never thought of 72 virgins although I think that's a dumb reason to commit suicide and murder. My impression of Muslims is that they are a thoroughly politicized group of people who would do anything in the name of Islam, including kill themselves and other innocent people. And, I don't want to hear the story about infidels because the different sects are killing each other. If I cannot see the positive results of being in a certain religion and negative is all they show, I have to go by what I see.

I think people first think of terrorism when they hear about Islam. It is a shame, but that is what is shown day in, day out. I wonder what the leaders of Islam think of these acts of terrorism in the name of Islam. I also do not hear anything from them or any condemnation.

It's the best example of why Islam is at its core an idiotic way to deal with the vicissitudes of life on this earth. Without such incentives in an imaginary heaven, the idiots necessary to fight its inevitable battles with more rational groups would be much harder to recruit.
