They have really cheap ones at the checkout line at STAPLES. The last time that I looked, they were $10.

I also had to pick one up myself for college and got a pretty decent one at Radio Shack for $17. The key to not going broke buying one of these USB drives is not to spring for the super huge (256MB+) drives as they are still priced pretty high. Stick with something that is closer to your uses. If you are mainly using it to save papers you write on you could probably get away with a 128MB drive, which is what I did even though I have a lot of biiiig MasterCam X and AutoCAD files on mine.
