If you handle food without washing your hands.. I use the cheap food handlers gloves, so I know that my hands are still clean when I get through..and I pick up at least 12 piles per day!
E-colic developed in the lower digestive tract, so is in all creature's poop..that is why humans should always wash hands before eating or handling food..We are more likely to get it from ourselves than anywhere else..

Are you planning on snacking on it?

Read up on eColi. If you are handling feces with your hands and do not wash them and them you put your hands in your mouth , you are in trouble.

And ew, the restaurants that spread it or spinach etc. are likely some worker who had diahrea or a bowel movement and DID NOT wash their hands properly and then handled the food or picked the spinach with their dirty hands etc.
