I was not really surprised by his "admission" of his "abuse". It's become all too common of a cop-out excuse - "Well, I'm screwed up because I was molested." Look at that teacher, Debra LeFave. She claims she was raped as a teen, and wanted to be a teacher to protect kids!! Then she claims she's bi-polar. There's no such thing as personal responsibility in this world anymore. It's always I was drunk, I was on drugs, someone did it to me, or I'm nuts. I mean look, the man was on a government task force designed to make stronger laws against child predators. I'm sure he lobbied for that position in order to be closer to the kids he was supposed to be "saving". And look, you'd have to be drunk ALL THE TIME to behave like that all the time - and it took 5 years for someone to notice? The thing that bothers me the most is that now, the old bs about how all gays are pedophiles and child molesters is going to start up again. It's going to reopen that nasty old stereotype, which is untrue and hateful, and that we don't need. Most studies say it is hetero males who commit the most sexual molestation against children.

Foley is trying to deflect attention away from the real problem by blaming his past and his drinking. Likewise Matt Drudge, who feels the victims are to blame, and Rush, who feels it is a Democratic conspiracy. What is missing in these explanations is the responsibility of Foley for messing with 16 year old boys.

He's a pedophile because he's sick. Not all people who were abused sexually as children grow up to repeat the behavior, and how do we know he's telling the truth? He just sounds like someone trying desperately to blame anyone else for his choices. His being gay has nothing to do with his allegations either, he is just trying to build a defense so he doesn't have to go to jail for the crimes he has committed.
