I have been wishing to get a tattoo for years, but I'm allergic to pain, jk. I want some, no matter how much they hurt, but I heard of a cream recently that would allow your arm to numb if you put it on, and then a couple of hours later they do the tattoo. And it would be painfree. Is this true?
The tattoo is worth the pain, but if I can get it painfree, that would be GREAT!

It's a bad idea to use numbing agents with tattoos, although some artist will. The agents in those creams can cause alergic reaction is some people, plus they can mess up the ink.

They also don't work that well, and the numbing creams that do are prescription meds- which only numb the surface, and may not last long enough.

If you are really deadly afraid of pain, but want a tattoo, get a very tiny one first- I mean really tiny- so you get an idea of how it feels. You might be surprised- most people are more worried about the pain ahead of time, and the anticipation messes with them more than the actual pain does.

Go watch a few tattoo artists, find a gentle one that is kind and will talk to you. You'd be amazed what a genbtle smile and a good atmosphere does to your perception of pain.

Part of a tattoo is braving the pain and your fear of pain, coming out and saying 'look ,.I did it!'

I have 5 tattoos and never once have i heard of a numbing cream for tattoos. Even if there really is such a cream, i highly doubt it will be of much help since cream would only be absorbed to the 2nd, maybe 3rd layer of skin if your lucky. The needle of a tattoo gun goes beyond that level. If your concerned about pain try taking a couple of Tylenol beforehand. Just don't take asprin or drink any alcohol as both of these will thin your blood and cause you to bleed more. Good Luck =)

As someone who is a HUGE wimp when it comes to pain, I wanted a tattoo and decided I would grit my teeth and deal with it. Thankfully and very surprisingly it wasn't as painful as some would lead you to believe. Of course that is said, but you also have to think about where you want the tattoo at, cause the location of it will also determine the pain level. When you decide that you really want one, go and talk to the tattoo artist and tell him your concerns, I am sure that if he/she is reputable, they will give you some advice on where is the best location for the tattoo you want with the least amount of pain, and some do have a numbing cream.

DO NOT, no matter what any one might tell you, take any type of pain killers or alcoholic drinks before hand, as this will most often lead to extra and unnecessary bleeding.

There is a cream that some tattoo artist use, however it does not last very long and can not be reapplied during tattooing. And the pain is not that bad, after a while you barely notice it and it starts to feel good. If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen!!

i got a tattoo this summer, im 16, it didn't hardly hurt. Plus you get used to the pain after a while, you really do. But i think that cream is BS! I really dont think that it would help all that much, if it even works or exists. But tattoos, especially on your arm dont hurt that bad, plus the pain goes away.

There is some kind of numbing gel that tattoo artist use, it numbs the area, you still feel it but not as bad. My friend had to use it when she got a tattoo on her big toe, it was fun to watch her get it done without it though. She didn't sit still in the chair!

The way I understand it from my brother i law, the more colors in your tatoo the more painful it is afterwards.

Never heard of a cream for this. I have many, many, many, many, tattoos, and it depends where you get it and your threshhold for pain. 99.9% of mine did not hurt.
