I did. However I lost a lot of blood afterwards. They tried to give me a blood transfusion but I broke out with a rash and then got a really high fever. So I was extremely tired because of my low levels of iron and the pain meds made me sleepy. So basically i was too sick to do it. I certainly tried and my son latched on a few times but I was just too sick to continue.
Remember though your daughter could do just fine and be very successful with breastfeeding.
Good luck to her!

Breastfeeding is great, but you know, it can be so emotional and a nerve racking thing if all doesnt go as planned after the delivery.
I had an emergency c-section. I had planned on breastfeeding. And I did breastfeed eventually.
I was in so much pain. When I had the baby I had a fever, so did the baby so he went directly to infant icu. Of course after he stabalized, I was still in a great deal of pain. I had a morphine drip, and also Percacets. I was not able to go see my baby the first few days because I was ill. I was heartbroken, but even with the pain, and the drugs i requested a breast pump, and the nurse brought one to me. I pumped as often as I could and drank lots ans lots and lots of water. And when I was too tired and in to my much pain to pump...my husband did it for me, seriously. So when I was able to go see my baby, I was ready.
The first time he latched on, you dont feel the pain any more because its such a beautiful thing and all your thoughts are about doing whats best for your baby. I was scared he wouldnt take to it, after getting the formula for the first few days. And breast feeding wasnt easy, finding the right position and all, becaquse I have really largw breasts, plus with the pain from the c-section. But when you really want to do whats best for the baby you work it out till its second hand.
When it was time to take the staples out of my stomach, I was veryvery sick again, apparently I had an infection from the surgery. I was running a fever of 106.8 and couldnt move. And my baby was still at the hospital, they wanted to keep him for ten days for observation. So After I had been discharged for two days I was at thehospital all day with him breastfeeding him, then I was sick again and I was readmitted into the hospital. And now I cant see my baby again even though we were in the same hospital, I was sick and they wouldnt let me in the nursery. So I pumped. But I was on antibiotics, so my husband couldnt bring him the milk i pumped. So of course i thought that he would not want it again after being off of it. I didn't stay in the hospital like i was suppose to, I left against doctors orders, I was really depressed and I just wanted to go home. I was given pills that i had to take for 2 weeks, thats another two weeks of not breastfeeding. When the baby came home I would just hold him against me, and i pumped and pumped and pumped. Finally, i was off the meds, my health was back, and i could breast feed.
I WAS DEVESTATED, my baby didnt want it (AT FIRST) I kept trying and kept talking to him, and finally he latched on again and I was crying...and ever since we've been doing it. I have to ween him now, We've gone longer than most people do, only because research has shown babies who stay on breast milk longer, are healthier and maybe even smarter. he drinks out of a cup and all that and and right before bed he nurses, the cut off is 2 years old, he's 21 months, its been an incredible bonding experience. Soothing and comforting to sit in the rocker at night and nurse him to sleep, and fall asleep myself...
BUT THE POINT OF THE STORY, IS THAT NO MATTER WHAT, IF SHE REALLY REALLY WANTS IT TO WORK, SHE CAN GET THREW ANY OBSTACLE.
i WISH HER LUCK, BUT ALL SHE NEEDS IS TO LOVE THE BABY AND THE REST WILL COME!!

I breastfeed my son for 6 weeks after I had a c-section. I decided to stop breastfeeding, because I was so tired. I was anemic.

I had no problems breastfeeding and I had 2 c-sections. I only had to wait until the affects of the anesthesia wore off and was able to support my own body weight. My boys were born in Atlanta, GA and as soon as the anesthesia was gone, the boys were in my room with me 24/7 so I could nurse whenever needed.

No latching problems or soreness, yet i waited 10 days for my milk to return in! or perhaps then i finished up having to supplement because of the fact i wasnt producing sufficient milk as a results of a scientific difficulty! I nonetheless love nursing nonetheless, and that i'm happy i caught with all of it this time!

Yes! It takes longer for your milk to come in because of the drugs. But don't worry, just ask for a lactation consultant to visit, they will get you set up with a breast pump. That will get it going pretty good.

I didn't have any problems with breastfeeding after my c-section. As a matter of fact, I believe that by brestfeeding, I decreased my time needed to heal. But, that's just me. ;-) Check out BabyCenter, it is a lifesaver for new moms of all sorts!!!!
