Selnyk,
I believe that you are assuming that they did. Maybe they did. But Moses lived at the time of the first Hebraic writings, supposedly. So, I think that he had a better idea than we do. I figure that he meant years.
The people live shorter lives. I was taught, and I accepted the theory, that the worlds atmosphere was different, that there was a canopy of sorts over the Earth. For lack of a better thing to point to, sheilding the Earth from the UV radiation that has the tendency to change things quicker than before.
That means these people lived close to a thousand years, literally.

Not sure. But Bible-people general seem to have started living shorter lives after the time of Noah. Perhaps the Bible up to that point is largely symbolic or perhaps something changed at that time, or perhaps people did start counting years differently at that point. Good question.

Well people in the Bible use to live alot longer simply because God willed it. I think the oldest man was Abraham, I could be mistaken but after he lived for a long long long time God saw that people being so old may not be a good thing...seeing as they kinda fall apart after 100. After that God willed that people not live so long, not to be mean...but to help the qualitiy of life. I'm not sure if they counted years differently, like I said I think after Abraham, people started living shorter lives. **and just so you know "Lucky" this is just something that I think could explain it...you don't have to be a jerk about it**

Before the flood the earth was covered in a protective vapor layer. This cloud cover protected people from the radioactive rays that we ourselves get from the sun coming through an atmosphere that no longer has that cloud protection.
Christian scientist believe this is why people started living shorter lives after the flood.

People after the flood lived shorter lives.
Those before the flood lived longer probably for the following reasons:
Pure gene pool created with Adam and Eve. No genetic defects caused by many generations of illness, radiation, drugs, etc.
Pure environment. No additives to food. No pollution.
God probably helped them live longer to be able to populate the Earth faster.

Maybe a bit of both. The bible is an unreliable source of information, at best.
