Should they just not give?
Maybe those people actually have to work for a living and cant go around shaking every homeless persons hand!
Be happy there are people out there who are willing to give money.
Those who dont have the time - give money
Those who dont have the money - give time.

What a perfect example of self-righteousness you are, seasoned with a healthy amount of ignorance.
The fact is other than you presume to be the case.
Let's just take doctors and lawyers as two examples. As we all know, most of them are at least middle class by the time they've been in business two or three years.
There are a lot of members of both professions who give their services to people who need it, but cannot afford to pay for it. I know the legal profession actively encourages it in most jurisdictions, and may require it in others.
Now, IF you believe that is true, which I can assure you that it is, is it even conceivable that they could do that without facing the people they are helping?

Do you personally give out food and blankets to street people in the winter?
Do you work in food kitchens every week, and make sure they have a good supply of special food on hand for holiday meals?
Do you personally approach all of your friends asking them to donate gifts of clothes and blankets for needy families? And then make sure they get to organizations that provide newly homeless families with some home comforts, allowing them to survive and get back on their feet?
All of the above are done regularly by just three "rich" women that I know. They get down and dirty and face to face with poverty a lot more than any middle class person I know (including me).
Your blanket assessment is a spit on the face for all the hard work THEY do. What do YOU do?

I don't usually give money, but give in other ways. When our kids outgrow their clothing and winter jackets, they get donated to charity. It's a lot easier to do it that way than to run around and try to find a poor person that can use that size.

Would you be happy if they walked the streets of the poor neighborhood and gave out money? Grow up and be thankful that people give. How ungrateful can you get?
