"slower traffic keep right" when you get in trouble for going over the speed limit? Is that for people who want to go under the speed limit?

It's for people who want to drive under the speed limit. That way, those going the speed limit can safely and effectively pass the vehicle that's going slower. Speeders also like to be able to fly by and that is their choice if they're not worried about a ticket. It's too bad that the "keeping right" isn't enforced. I hate getting trapped behind slow drivers.

It is so that those who want to be right under the speed limit can keep a stead pace. Saves on gas. If you are in California, If you are going with the flow of traffic and they are all above 10 miles an hour, the police will not pull you over for speeding. Its cause if you were to slow down really fast and the rest did not, you can cause an accident and road rage. Besides the highway patrol ALWAYS goes about 7-10 miles above the limit!

Hypocrites!

It means if you don't want to keep up with the flow of traffic , get to the right . You can break the law even if your doing the speed limit in the fast lane if your impeding traffic. Which mean causing a hazard to others. So if you feel you are the one that will hold that fast lane to 65 or 70 MPH and no one can do any thing about it . Think again. Your Impeding traffic. If you choose to speed than you could be the lucky one to get a ticket . Even though others around you are going the same speed. It's like the lotto . You play ,you lose.....It's who they pull over will be the one that stuck out the most ......in traffic......

The expressway (or freeway or parkway, etc.) is designed so that the left lane is used for passing. Those that drive the speed limit or below SHOULD be using the right-most lane. For those driving between the speed limit and 10-15mph over, the middle lane is perfect; it is moving fatser than the right lane, and can be used by people in the right lane to pass others in their lane. The left lane is for the fast drivers; 15mph over or more.

As the roads are designed so that the faster traffic should be farthest left, and the slowest should be farthest right, MORONS who do the speed limit in the fast lane need a reminder that they should be all they way over to the right.

By driving the speed limit in the fast lane, you seriously hinder traffic, and can cause accidents; this is why you can actually be ticketed for only going the speed limit in the left-hand lane!

My best friend got pulled over on the NYS Thruway for going the speed limit in the left lane, and the cop said he'd let him slide this time, but next time he would have to give him a ticket!

Hope this Helps!

A lot of times truckers and older people drive under the speed limit. The road signs say this in order to try to keep the traffic moving and prevent accidents

In a perfect world those choosing to go below the posted limit should use the right lane. In the imperfect world that we live in where some people elect to go 20/25 mph over the limit it might be safer if those of us who choose to go the legal limit to also use the right lane. This would give the state police a clear shot at the speeders.

Some vehicles like trucks with heavy loads, RVs, or people that have nowhere to go in a hurry take a while to get up to speed or travel slowly up hills. They need to stay out of the high speed lanes of traffic or it will cause backups.

It's less safe to go fast in the right lanes because people are merging onto the road a lot. Getting the slow ones over to the right lets the fast ones stay on the left, which reduces collisions.
