Depravity is not uncommon among self professed Christian religions. That is why Christ said that there would be many claiming to speak in his name. Their actions may be reprehensible, but consider that of the KKK or other similar self professed Christian organizations. Consider the actions of the Christians in the Balkans, in their genocide attacks on Muslims.
What this church is doing is just a more extreme form of what most churches do, anything except following all the teachings of Christ. Christ instructions were very simple, learn God's Word, Preach God's Word, and teach others how to preach and teach. Instead, they relegate the job to power elites. It's a lot easier to make showy displays of ones faith than it is for each Christian to simply reach out and teach three others persons about the Bible. All they want to learn are Bible stories, not the Bible as a whole. They don't even want to be bothered with teaching their own children.

People like this can be compared to the Pharisees. The have a religion, but no relationship. When Christ came on the earth, the Pharisees, tried every way in the world to discredit Him, and eventually killed Him. They were considered among the people, the only ones worthy to have access to God. The problem was it was a show to them. Pride and power went to their head.
Jesus turned their traditions upside down, and then didn't like it. You go to churches like this and they are bitter and dead. They are not alive and there is no love. These people play church, because they grew up in it and thought that was enough. There are plenty of church out there that are not like this though. My husband and I a planting a church right now, that would have these Westboro people calling us heathen and blasphemers.
There is nothing unbiblical about what we are doing, but because we are breaking the mold, and we want to me the needs of people that have tatoos, and lots of peircings, that don't look like most people that should be in church. We don't want church people. We want people that are gonna walk the walk and talk the talk, and show the love of Christ to anyone and everyone, no matter how they dress, what they look like, ethnicity, social status, income, etc.
True beleivers are the same way. I think it is a shame that groups like this are what most people see Christianity to be.

If these seriously disturbed individuals do protest at the funeral of those little amish girls...they should be horse whiped...maybe the Amish would loan some to those who would put them to good use.
This group DOSE NOT represent, in any way, The manner in which one of The True Christian Faith should behave. I have come to believe that many in that "cult" are mentaly unstable.

Indeed sick sick: law law; kinda like jerusalem jerusalem, abraham abraham, moses moses, saul saul, simon simon, etc, perhaps biblically denotes doublemindead & highmindead, which is among unholy things in 2Tim 3 to "from such turn away".
Their head: johnny the baptist, lost his head, for accusing and condemning a king; Which the Son of God wouldn't do: Jn 3:17; Jn 5:45; Jn 8:3-11. I guess the "verily verily" john didn't get it: understanding, since he also turned, back to law, behind him.
TgooLJCwya. Amen.

You need to realize the difference between people who call them selves Christians, and those who are actually true born again Christians who live according to God's word. They are really two different people entirely. Those who protest like the one your post speaks of is a reprobate.
Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate
Learn to recognize those differences. If they act out against the law of God, they are not born again Chrsitians, just false teachers. If you are a Born again Christian, and you meet another person who says they are a Christian. The holy spirit inside you will recognize if the other person has the holyspirit inside them. You will know it. Just as you will know if they dont', and are just saying that they are Christian, but are not one.

What I don't understand is how horrible things like the Amish school shootings happen, yet nothing like that ever happens to whacko's like this so-called church group. Do these monsters only want to kill the innocent? Apparently so, or for sure someone would have gone after that stupid church by now. They shouldn't even be allowed to call themselves a church, gives all christians a bad name. Bunch of sickos. Their site "God hates Fags", shows their true colors. God loves ALL of His children, its the sin He hates, not the sinner. God sent His only son to save us sinners, not out of hate, out of love, but this so-called church doesn't seem to comprehend that at all. I guess they believe themselves to be completely sinless, amazing, expecially considering how they're promoting hate in His name. Right up there with the nazi's, they thought they were the good guys too.

I answered another question the same way i am going to answer this one....people have their own agenda's and put their own flavors on their beliefs....this church is wrong for acting as it does...the protested at the funeral of the nephew of a US Senator from Montana killed in Iraq....he was serving his country....we do not know (I knew him personally)if he supported the war or not but it was his job to go over as a Marine. This church group is adding it's own values to things...
It is alright to exercise our rights as long as doing so does not infringe on the rights of others.....ie. free speech does not give one the right to yell in a panic, fire fire in a crowded movie theater and cause a rush where others get hurt.....just thoughts and examples.....things are not black and white

I'm not a believer, but I know enough to know not to judge Christians by those sick little twits... they are all completely nuts. I do think religion in general, Christianity included, has a tendency to bring out the worst in mankind.
Be on the lookout for something big to happen with them. If it's not a Kool Aid party, it'll be a grieving loved one losing it on the lot of them.

These westboro freaks are just using a religion as a shield to hide behind the fact that they're too pathetic to stand on their own and make their absurd accusations without what they think of as supernatural support.
Even if there was a god, I doubt he'd let these a**wipes into heaven, nor would any devil want them stinking up hell.

I agree with the majority here in that these people do not represent all who are of the christian faith. The bible says "Beware of false teachers"
I did go to the website and did see that they canceled the protest.
