All of our excel spreadsheet has some name range attached to them. (Over 100). They referred to some files which are not in existence any more. Is there a faster way to delete all instead of doing them one by one. (holding down Shift or control key does not seem to work)
I am doing the slower way- going to "INSERT", "NAME", "DEFINE" and then delete them one by one.
You will save me so so much time. Thanks!

Use the Name Manager, it's an add-in from the Exvel MVP page.

I think the above answers are confusing files with name ranges. But anyway, there is no way to do a mass delete of name ranges other than the way you are currently doing it. I will say however that you shouldn't have to go through that entire navigation for every one. Once you open up the Define window and delete the first, it should stay open, in which case you would only need to use one hand to select the next range then press ctrl+d to delete. Altthough ideal, you shold be able to do one per second. Sorry couldn't be of more help.

Group the files, select al with the shift key and delete the entire group with one operation.

First find the name you want to delete and do a file sort so that name appears in the same place. You may not be able to do it with a sort on the name itself, but you can sort by last activity, or current balance, or anything that they have in common then you can get a group of them together.

Then go to the far left and select the row number of the first file. Drop down to the last row number of that file and click on that number while holding down the shift key. That will select all the row numbers. With your mouse over the row numbers right click on the mouse and a drop down menu should appear, then select the delete option and all those files will go away.
