Don't we all struggle daily? Are you a white-washed tomb?

I ask questions like this all the time. It's strange that people assume Chrisitans are supposed to be perfect. I know there are those in the faith that do believe they're perfect and preach to others as if they are, but they are so few.

I just read the white-washed scripture today. We do struggle daily and sometimes we don't even realize it.

Thanks for the question fellow sinner, fellow Christian.

For the same reason that history repeats itself. We forget where we came from, and get lost on where we are going.

I do struggle daily, but have a white washed soul! (through the blood of Jesus)

Amen. Jesus did not come for the righteous, but for sinners.
Jesus spent time with sinners, Zaccheus, the woman at the well in Samaria, - He loves the sinner, but hates the sin. That is why He made a way for us to be reconciled to God. Sin separates us from God, but God sent His Son Jesus to pay the punishment for our sin so that we can be saved, and set free from the power of sin.

James says that if we claim we have no sin, we make God a liar and the truth is not in us. This means that yes, we all continue to sin, though as Christians we are learning that we don't *have* to, and how to avoid it...but the whole New Testament is about how we can't measure up to perfection, which is what the blood of Jesus is for...the best stain-remover in existence.
"If we confess our sins, He will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." So it's best to keep short accounts with God.
"Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God, through our Lord Jesus Christ."
I'm a blood-washed sinner saved by grace.

you are so right...if I could give more thumbs up to your question I would..Jesus did come to save sinners and that is why we need to be more open ..I do remember before I was a Christian that I would have not just gone to a church because I was afraid of being judged by people for my sins, but the fact is we can be freed from sin and then should help people to overcome sin rather than bash them and seem self righteous...way to many self righteous people...they forget that Jesus is our only righteousness

actually no. If you read the bible, he told the gentile woman by the well, "I did not come for you. I came for the lost of Israel." So Jesus in fact came with a message for those that were making up stuff in the name of God, but they were traditions of man. We can assume this was the Pharrasee sect of Judiasim, but as we were not there we can never know exactly who he came for, but that is the popular opinion of the real scholars, and not of the dogmatic christian priests.

It's when the Church conceals, aids and abets sins as atrocious as child abuse (as the Vatican has done) that people are surprised.

That's a completely indefensible position for any religious institution to take, and flies squarely in the face of the teachings it is allegedly built upon.

That's right! And the purpose of the Church is to take in those who are unsaved and bring them to Christ.

If we didn't have any sinners in church, the church would be completely empty. There was only one sinless person, and that's Christ.

The non-sinners don't need church.
