could be coxsackie (http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/bacterial_viral/coxsackie.html) could just be an allergic reaction to soap or overuse of hand sanitizer - which kindergartens are so fond of using rather than plain soap & water. My daughter gets rashes on her hands from using harsh antibacterial soaps & sanitizers. Plain soap & water is best! Before you run to thinking it's a disease of some sort, rule out mundane things such as harsh soap and the like.

I do encourage you to go to a doctor .... However, several years ago, tiny, itchy blisters started breaking out on the palms of my hands. Frequently they had pus in them. Then the same thing started on the ball of my foot by the big toe. I went to 2 different dermatologist over the course of 2 years, and never found a cause. Eventually it stopped. I do once a year, maybe, still get a blister on my palm. I don't think it is anything life threatening, but it may not be easy to find the cause. Do go to the doctor, though, as no one on here can diagnose the problem with any accuracy.

Could be something allergy-related....Once a year, I get small, white blisters on the tops of my fingers...they're a bit itchy and if one pops, it's filled with liquid. They only come on as spring sets in and allergy season hits...It could also be Scabies....it is usually noticed first as spots on the hands and fingers...but they usually cover a large area and are pretty close together, bunches and bunches of little red bumps that itch. It is easily passed. If it doesn't go away or starts to spread, take him to the doctor so ensure it's not scabies...and if it is there is a cream that they can prescribe you to get rid of it. And who knows, he could have some kind of poison ivy, sumac or something similiar. Good luck though!!

sounds like hand foot and mouth, if you cant get to a doctor a least take him to a pharmacy and they'll tell you. Don't panic its NOT the same as the foot and mouth disease that sheep and cattle get! my son got it from a daycare centre and as soon as he had his antibiotics within 2 days it had cleared. make sure he finishes the course though. My sons were mostly in his mouth and it was extremely painful for him so please have it checked before it gets to bad!!

It could be hand-foot-mouth disease. He is a little old to be having that problem but it is not totally uncommon. If that is what it is there is no treatment for it, you just have to let it run its course. But you should definitely take him to his pediatrician to make sure.
