I've been having some neck problems/strain that I believe is due to me picking up my baby daughter off the floor in a weird way. I have been having some numbness in my hands that came along suddenly and neck pain and I think I need to seek a chiropractor for it. It is not heart or diabetes related, so please no advice on this. It may, however, be carpal tunnel related, but I think it's in my neck.

yes they do, but make sure they do a thorough exam before doing any neck adjustments to make sure there is no chance of further injuring you.

I have found the chiropractor to be very helpful for neck pain. I go to one that uses the Activator system. It's not hands on bone cracking. I have neck pain due to using my body unevenly. I had a tumor surgery in one arm and it causes me to do everything on the other side, causing my spine to be way off balance. I also have had nerve damage that causes me to twitch. This too was taken care of through chiro. There may be more things wrong, but they should be able to tell you that and you can seek traditional care for it. I think chiro is a cheaper way to take care of some problems first.

A good chiro can help, but a bad one can make matters worse. Get a recommendation from someone you trust. There are lots of fly-by-night chiros out there who prey one people in car accidents. I went to one who left me with more pain than when I went in, but another chiro did help a lot.

Also consider if your insurance will cover it, and if not, do you want to pay for the visits?

Most of the time, yes. However, there are times when only an MD can help; ie ruputred disc, etc..
