yes, I'm a chiropractor, and most insurance companies pay for chiropractic treatment...
Blue Cross, most other major & most small insurance companies, as well as Medicare, workers compensation, personal injury/auto insurance, etc.
You shouldn't need a referral from your doctor unless you need a referral to see other specialists (like the dermatologist, etc) if you have a HMO...

To be sure, just call the "Member Services" phone number on your card & ask what your chiropractic benefits are: you will either have a dollar amount per year, or a visit amount (a number of times per year you can be seen).

If you know which doctor you are going to see, then just ask the office if they participate with "X" insurance company & you should be set.

RE:
Are chiropractors ever covered by insurance?

If you want to come to Kansas City there is Dr. DeAtley in the 5600 block of St. John. Twenty bucks and he fixes it every time! I would suggest that you find your local massage school and go get a few massages to break down the muscle spasms. Then the adjustment will work and the spasms won't just pull your back back out of place. Most chiropractors are not even aware of this fact...the one I worked for as a massage therapist said he couldn't afford to look at my face as everyone that came to me which was everyone but one person got well and didn't return. But he was way cool because he fanned out into different modalities and kept the massage going. You might also check to see if there is a chiropractic college in your town they are not expensive.

Yes. Depends on your state, insurance plan, and if your regular doctor specifically referred you to a chiro.
