In our family we are not fond of the typical green bean casserole but we found one that everyone that tastes it loves so this one we use all the time now.

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

2 Tblsp butter
2 Tblsp all purpose flour
1 ts salt
1 ts white sugar
1/4 cup diced onion
1 cup sour cream
3 (14.5oz) cans french style green beans, drained
2 cups shredded cheese
1/2 cup crumbled ritz crackers
1 Tblsp butter, melted

1. Prehead over to 350°F.
2. Melt 2 Tblsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir in flour until smooth, and cook for one minute. Stir in the salt, sugar, onion, and sour cream. Add green beans and stir to coat.
3. Transfer the mixture to a 2 1/2 qrt casserole dish. Spread shredded cheese over the top, in a small bowl toss together cracker crumbs and remaining butter and sprinkle over the cheese.
4. Bake for 30 minutes uncovered in 350° or until the top is golden and cheese is bubbly.

One package of frozen green beans - thawed. One can of mushroom soup. Mash it all together and spread it in a non-stick pan. Cover with that cardboard, circular cylinder of "french fried onions." I don't know who makes them - it's a red and white box. Stick it in the oven - 350* of course - and bake until the onions start to brown. Make sure the bottom of the gunk is warm. If not, zap it for a minute or two to make sure. A glass pan is best. I'm sure the "REAL" recipe is on the container of one or all of these items. A "must have" for Thanksgiving, whether you like it or not.
