Hi, i am an indian. u did'nt say which part of the country u'll be visiting but as it is a buisiness trip iam assuming it to be a metro. Ours is one of those countries which accept foreign guests with open arms. U'll be treated like a god here.
The greeting is : namaste pronounced as num-us te with ur palms folded.
The country is pretty dirty so brace urself for that and winters r just round the corner so u r coming at a good time. On 21 oct is the biggest festival of indians called Diwali, if u r here by then, u'll enjoy. People eat food with hands but nobody will expect u to, so don't worry. And beware of beggars, they have been taught to loot foreigners.
some common words
yes haan
no nahi
thank u dhanya vaad (but even the lower class understands
thank u)

I think the people u'll be dealing with will be pretty fluent in english and it would be advisable to take an indian along with, for any shopping etc. food won't be a problem, u'll get almost any thing here. People here r really cool and nobody expects u to be well versed in the customs so just chill and be freindly but don't let anybody take u for a ride.
If u got any more questions then leave a question in this category with my name in the question heading, i will visit this site again after 24 hours.

p.s. if u find the ans informative plz make it ur best

Well, you can be just yourself..
A gud handshake with a smile will do..
It matters what kind of people you're targetting..
.. well they will be happy if you greet by saying "namaste" (nuh- muh-stey)
rest you can very well find yourself once you interact.. you dont have to pay special attention .. just be polite and smile...
:-) well, that curve can straighten a lot of problems... :-)
Good Luck.
Have a nice time there...

Tirupur in Tamil Nadu (south) Ludihiana in punjab (north) are 2 majore factors for garment exports and buying and promoting..... related to cellular telephones you would be extra helpful off paying for in malysia , china or thailand considering india imports maximum of its cellular.
