If she's friendly and that young, she would not have a problem going through the ASPCA. They usually only have to put down dogs that are mean or have special needs.

Check out Lab rescue groups or post an ad on petfinder.com-Please find your dog a good home before you go, you accepted the responsibility and the commitment of owning a dog when you adopted her..now it's up to you to make sure she has a good life!

Talk to your vet, they may be able to help you find another owner for her. Also look into the animal rescue organizations in your area. Many of them work with foster owners, and may be able to place your dog with a foster until a permanent adoptive owner can be found. If you haven't posted an add in the classifieds, then you may want to do that as well.

Interview all the people that are willing to take your dog. You want to make sure the home is fit for your dog. Place a free ad on craigslist. I am sure you will get some responses. Everyone loves labs.

Hi. I work with American lab Rescue and we are constantly helping place dogs. You can check out our website at Americanlabrescue.com. I would be happy to speak with you regarding your little girl. Please email me if you'd like.

Whatever you do, don't list her in the paper. And interview any potential adopter. A labbie should have a fenced in yard and a family that lets her be a house dog, too:) You have the right to do a homecheck to make sure she's going to be in a good place. Get vet references too.

If you are out of time to do all this, please consider allowing a rescue to do it for you.

Best of luck and thanks for wanting the best for your girl:)

Is she trained in field and trial? There are a ton of hunter's that would love to have her up that way. (I am orig from Ohio/Michigan). Place an ad in the local paper, and ask your vet as well. Worst case, you can take her to the Humane Society. They do not euthanize.

see if a lab rescue will take her. They will find her a home and not put her down. Have you called your Vet? They may help you find her a home. Good Luck!
