I had NO clue that the BC pill could cause early abortion. I'm so totally disgusted and appauled at the pact that Doctors and Teen Clinics force these pills on girls and woman without letting them know what it really is. Was anybody else in the dark about this? I'm so freakin' pissed that this happens and it's hidden.

Yeah, that is how the IUD works, I know that because my DR tried to get me on it after I gave birth, and I read the pamphlet and found the part in the small print where it says if an egg IS fertilized then it will not be able to implant, and I was not okay with that, so I didn't do it. Most BC does cause early abortion, most pills work to try to stop ovulation, BUT if you do ovulate and the egg does get fertilized, it will prevent implantation. It's not that there are so many different kinds of pills (although there are a couple) it's that the pills work in several steps, the last and worst being the early abortion.

I didn't mean to say "does cause" I meant "can cause" SORRY!

Jen, so totally what I was thinking. These people are so "pro-choice" but, where was my choice not the eliminate my child? I was not made aware of this, granted, I could have probably (maybe) found it on my own, why would I have thought to look? My DR didn't say anything about it, so why would I think it was abortion? I'm so so very upset about this, I think more people need to be aware of what they are doing to their body and possibly their children, speak out, tell everyone you know, this needs to be spread out so woman DO have the choice, the choice to NOT kill their babies. How dare these drs and companies murder our babies behind our backs?

Yes, I did know this BUT ONLY BECAUSE I am active in the Pro Life movement did I get this knowledge.
How many of us have unkowingly eliminated our children by taking a pill?
Very unfair

I knew that SOME do. Not all are formulated to work that way. Just like it says in the link you put, some work by stopping ovulation all together so you can't conceive, some work by inhibiting the way sperm travel to the fallopian tube, and some prohibit an already fertilized egg to implant. The last one is considered by many to be essentially an early abortion, as once the egg is fertilized, it (he/she) has unique DNA, separate from either the mother or father, and will grow into a unique person. Not allowing the fertilized egg to implant causes it to die.

I THINK (not positive) this is how an IUD works, too...by not allowing a fertilized egg to implant. So it's not just the pill.

Now I see what the point was.....I wanted to stop olvulation...if I am ovulating there is not point....

Most BCPs actually keep you from ovulating, so what they're describing is basically the morning-after pill, when they refer to "early abortion."
