I am sure at some point all women who want to be mothers wonder if they will be good at it. Before I had my first child I was a nervous wreck I kept thinking that I would do the wrong things. Yes you will know when the time is right for you and has to be right for YOU not right for someone else being a mom is hard work and you have to make sure that you are absolutely ready for the responsibility. When you're ready trust me you will know and you more then likely will have the whole "I just want to have fun" attitude out of your system. Here's what you should do. Put wondering what kind of mother you'll be out of your mind and just concentrate on being young and having fun. Do everything that you want do first so that way when you do decide to have a baby you won't have any regrets you wont be wishing that you had waited. Have fun, explore the world, find out who you really are, work at getting the career you want there are so many more things for you to be doing right now. You only get be young once so live this part first. Good Luck with all you do.

Only you can answer this question. If you are waiting for your ovaries to send you a signal, it's not going to happen. I am 31 years old and have two boys, I am on the sidlines every weekend at Lacrosse games. I work a full time job and keep a very tidy house. I even find time at least two nights a week to sit down and have a beer with my husband!! Your life is not over if you have kids, it's just a different life! It's a busy life! But you will get out of it what you put in! There are days when you want to get in the car and never go back, then there are days when you won't want to leave the babies side! Yes, you'll be a mommy and that will come first. But you are also still a woman and a human being and you have to make time for that too!!

this sounds dumb, but do you have a puppy? We got a puppy 1st, then I had a baby. It's amazing to see the similarities. Of course you can't put a baby in a cage and leave them for the day. But they still depend on you like a baby would. Your maternal instincts come out as well. I didn't think I had any until I got the puppy.

Now, agreeing with another answer--when you don't really want to go out on a regular basis and party, you are getting closer to being ready.

I think you will know when the time is right. When all your going out and party times are starting to get old and boring. That is what did it for me. Even though im going to turn 20, this is time for me to grow up and be an adult. Life hits you so fast. I've had 2 misscarriages and after that I decided it was my time to make a good life for my future children. Dont worry though, with time it will come.

You know when you're ready. I would say around 25 would be the ideal age. You have an established job, a marriage, had your fun and parties, ready to settle down and have a baby.

You willknow when you are ready. When going out on the weekends is no longer appealing and you just don't want to do it, thats a good start. I used to love going out on fridays looked forward to it every monday, well now looking back it just seems stupid to me, to go waste money, have guys stare at you all night and undress you with their eyes, and get the lame pick up lines........yeah thats fun.

Some don't give it enough thought, or no thought, or planning at all. You will know when the time is right. If you are as concerned about your parenting skills then, as you are now, I will bet, that you will make a good Mom.

You can't have the cake and eat it.If you have kids then be ready to sacrifice fun .You can have fun but the focus is on the kids.If you really think that you can't be bound at home with kids then choice is yours.

When going out drinking and dancing and taking weekend trips starts to make you feel old, you might be a good candidate.
