I'm very curious and I'm not a mind reader. Someone just mentioned that witches and wiccans and pagans should be giving their own category because it isn't Christian.

Should questions about Islam also go into their own category?

Also, why is it that I only read Christians who want to seperate people out from this section. Is there something inherint within Christianity that makes Christians make comments on yahoo answers like "well they aren't Christian so they shouldn't post here."

Does the Christian church own the Yahoo Answers Religion and Spirituality Section?

Everyone should be allowed to post in the Religion and Spirituality section, regardless of their belief system. People fear what they don't understand, and many Christian religions teach that other religions are false, not Christian, and should not be recognized or valued.

Those individuals need to be a little bit more open minded about things relating to religion. I am a Pagan now but until I was about 14 I was a Christian. I did not truly become "aware" of being a Pagan until I was about 21, but by then I was already curious about other ways of believing in the divine. Most people who want to segregate things into Christian and non-Christian are extremely biased, and major bigots. The same is true for people who want the reverse of that scenario: categorizing things into non-Christian and Christian.

No change is need to be made to Yahoo! Answer's Religion and Spirituality section it is perfect the way it is, and to change it to fit the views of the few is ridiculous. Most Christians post such things because they can not understand why their religion is not embraced by everyone, and they are ready and willing to demonize anyone who dares question the validity of their Bible. Those who use the above quoted phrase are both self centered and egotistical. They think that Christianity is the most powerful religion out their, but what they fail to remember is that some of the most horrific things in history were perpetrated by Christians. (i.e. The Spanish Inquisition)

While I am probaly correct in the assumption that most of the employees at Yahoo! are Christian; I highly doubt that the Christian Chruch (any dinomination of the Christian faith) directly owns Yahoo!. Being a former Christian I can say with certainty that the Christian faith as discribed in the Bible (Coptic and or Latin version not the King James version) dose not condone any such hatred. Most of the Christians who have the opinion you have asked about only know a few given verses of the Bible and what they interpret them to mean and/or what they told their preachers the verses mean. Such interperetations are grossly taken out of context, and used to help explain things that the writer of the Biblical scriptures could not have even imagined given their knowledge of the world and their knowledge of science. Most Christians think that the Bible is the 'Word of God', but they fail to take into account that alot of the passages have a different meaning in their original form than how most people understand them today. Two good examples of this are "Thou shall not suffer a whitch to live" and their story of the "Rapture". The line from the Bible originally read "Thou shall not suffer a poisoner to live" talk about mistranslation, and the word 'Rapture' does not appear any where in the Bible not even in the Book of Revelations when the event is supposed to happen.

So there is the LONG WINDED EXPLANATION, and I hope the information I gave will help you out in search for answers. I meant no offense to any one when by giving the answer I gave and if I have offended anyone I apologize in advance.

Peace out and Blessed Be to all.

Other categories would help sort questions so that seekers could find answers from people with knowledge more easily. (If I have a question about Islam, it would be more helpful if Muslims answered it right?) The problem I have with this system is that people are often rude and disrespectful of other people's beliefs. There seems to be a lot of comments that allude to the questioner's stupidity for asking. I think that is uncalled for. Why can't we just get answers from people who have an answer? Why do we have to sift through what sounds like 12 yr old boys answering with completely irrelevant info?
I would suggest that people just try to respect others. If someone states that they are ______ religion and want answers based on that, other beliefs really have no place in the answer. If you try, aren't you simply pushing your beliefs on someone who didn't ask for it??

No, I don't think the Christian Church owns the Yahoo Answers Religion and Spirituality Section

Sure, I think they should have several categories under religion - Christian, Judaism, Muslim, Hindu, Pagan etc etc - it would be easier to find the right types of questions some of us look for, and help those looking for the right types of answers so they don't have to sift through 100's of "no you are going to hell if you do'nt believe in Jesus" answers.

This is out of control. Many of the fundamental Christians think that Religion and Spirituality means Christianity and Jesus. Jim, why stop at an Islam section. We also need a Judaism section, a Catholic section, an LDS section, etc. While Yahoo! is at it, they should segregate us further by creating an Atheist section and an Agnostic section. Yeah, Christians preach love and peace, yet they wish to stifle your mouth and move you to the pig pens.

I don't understand the motivations of the Christians here who are so closed minded. They refuse to see that there ARE other paths. We all have the right to be in whatever section we choose to be, It's that simple. And far as I know the christian church (whichever one) doesn't own Yahoo Answers.

So glad to see that someone else feels the same way I do.

It's so sad for the Christians to believe that they're the only religion in the world, and therefore only ones deserving of a Voice in the religion section.

In fairness I have known some very kind and accepting Christians but a LOT of them are punitive, controlling monsters. They may want their own section but they won't get it. They need to explore a private Yahoo! group if all they want to do is perform symbolic spiritual mutual masturbation. And so...I say my piece.

Wicca is a religion, and one can be spiritual without religion. It's not the "Christian" section. People should stop complaining. There is no reason to be afraid of someone different from you.
