As one of Jehovah's Witnesses,

I've talked to most religions in the US.

Everytime I knock on a door I place my faith and understanding on the line.

In all the time I've been doing this, I haven't yet found a religion that could disprove what the Witnesses teach.

I've had people misquote the Witnesses, misquote the bible, but not taught something more accurate.

Please notice what a Greek scholar said about "our" bible as to accuracy.

New Testament:

While critical of some of its translation choices, BeDuhn called the New World Translation a “remarkably good” translation, “better by far” and “consistently better” than some of the others considered. Overall, concluded BeDuhn, the New World Translation “is one of the most accurate English translations of the New Testament currently available” and “the most accurate of the translations compared.”—Truth in Translation: Accuracy and Bias in English Translations of the New Testament.

“Here at last is a comprehensive comparison of nine major translations of the Bible:

King James Version,
New American Standard Bible,
New International Version,
New Revised Standard Version,
New American Bible,
Amplified Bible,
Today's English Version (Good News Bible),
Living Bible,
and the New World Translation.

The book provides a general introduction to the history and methods of Bible translation, and gives background on each of these versions. Then it compares them on key passages of the New Testament to determine their accuracy and identify their bias. Passages looked at include:

John 1:1; John 8:58; Philippians 2:5-11; Colossians 1:15-20; Titus 2:13; Hebrews 1:8; 2 Peter 1:1

Take a piece of black construction paper. Punch some holes randomly in it with a needle. THen punch some holes in it in random places with a pencil point. Then take a hole-puncher and punch some more holes randomly. Now take that piece of paper and tape it to a window.

You can see different things through the holes, right? And some of them let more light in than others, right? This is how it is with religion (to me). Everyone sees different things, and some see more than others. But we are all looking at aspects of the same picture. Some people interpret what they see FAR differently than others.

The only time I personally feel someone is dead wrong is when they preach hate and violence, ask for money in exchange for something, or tell you that your beliefs are wrong and something bad will happen if you don't believe as they believe.

And that is not only Christianity, but Buddhism, Judaism, Islam, nature-base religions, etc etc etc. Read up on all religions, all denominations, and when you find something that fits how you feel the world works, then you've found your path. And it is perfectly acceptable to mix and match.

No one church is the one true church because the Lord said any church that worships Him is the true church. Jesus says that in the Bible.

(Jehovah's Witnesses are a completely different denomination from the Christian churches)

All the churches say are the "true" religion to get people to join the church. I know it can be confusing.
But, if you follow the Lord's guidance (that all the churches are His) and go to a church YOU feel comfortable with, you will be fine.

noone can tell you the true denomination. Take what you know and believe to be true and look at the denominations that believe that. I believe that Jesus died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead, I beleive that he forgives us as long as we confess with our mouths. so I then searched through churchs unitll I found the one that fit my lifestyle the best. I happen to be Southern Baptist. There are things that I don't always agree with, but that is any church and anything in life. You take what you belive and discard the rest, or at least give it a thouught. I chose the church I attend because of teh people and the wonderful childrens programs. Just let your heart guide you and don't make any rash decisions. Go to many different churchs and keep a notebook and make notes so you remember. Good luck and God bless you!

It is important to realize that they are ALL the true religion, for some people. That is to say, as there are a million paths to Heaven, some will get there along the COG path, some on the SDA path, some on the JW path, some on the Muslim path, some on the Wiccan path, so on and so forth. There is no one "true" religion, they are all true, to an extent. I am a freethinker, which means that I am a Christian by the rules that make sense to me. I suppose one could also call me a Deist, by the original meaning; I believe in God and Jesus, but I believe the Church is too corrupt to pay them homage. I also do not worship Jesus; I thank him for what he did, but God is the Master, and thus Jesus has little power. So do not fret over which is the "true" religion. You will find yours in time. Godspeed!
Signed,
A Freethinking Christian

When our founding fathers created a government, they gave us the executive and legislative branches of government. But they did not leave these two branches to duke it out over disagreements within law, they appointed the judicial branch to interpret the law for them and for the people. To do otherwise would have lead to anarchy!
Jesus was God made man. He is even wiser and more intelligent than America's founding fathers (by leaps and bounds, right?). He did not leave his church without inspiring the written word of his teachings in the Bible. But there were many different stories about Jesus circulating about 300 years after his death--who could decide which teachings were Holy and which were untrue? Jesus didn't just leave his teachings. Just like our founding fathers, he left us interpreters, too! To do otherwise would lead to anarchy--a massive amount of "Christians" splitting off from one another over various disagreements and creating a innumerable number of churches instead of one true denomiation leading his sheep.
Jesus gave us an executive and legislative branches--the Pope and the hierarchy of the Catholic Church lead the people into deciding which books belonged in the Holy Bible and which were untrue. And, lest the people be mislead by their own misinterpretations or by that of wolves that Jesus warned us about, the Catholic Church continues to correct and teach what Jesus had intended for His mystical body and Bride, the one, true church (Ephesians 5). A good husband doesn't have more than one wife, does he?
I highly recommend the books "The Faith of the Early Fathers" translated by William A. Jurgens and "Rome Sweet Home" by Scott Hahn. The first book shows what the church looked like in its beginning with quotes and excerpts from early Christians. The latter book is a personal story written by a Presbytarian minister who was vehemently anti-Catholic, but came to believe that the Catholic Church was the "true denomination" and converted.
Thanks for reading and God Bless!

P.S. I feel obligated to add this as based on other postings: The Catholic Church DOES NOT teach that if you are not Catholic, then you are certainly going to hell. Heck, even if you are Catholic, you may not necessarily being going to heaven. More details on the Catholic teaching on salvation can be found in the Catechism and www.newadvent.org.

only God can show you where you truly belong.
All denominations have flaws.
many are pretty good...
few are close to the "right one".

coz all are run by PEOPLE. lol. people are imperfect.

i made a decision that was the best ive made yet other than asking Jesus in my heart of course, and that decision was to not ask each denomination who was better or right, but to get myself a bible, read it.... New Testament first coz its more helpful in that area, and from what the word of God says, chose a denomination. the one that lined up with God's word the most. I didnt ask someone to help me read it and "interperet" the scriptures, coz people can twist the word to make it say whatever they want. instead, i asked God, i asked the Holy Spirit to show me truth, reveal to me the right thing and the right way to interperet the scriptures on every subject.

i learned from the word with God's help, what a church should be like, what it should and shouldnt practice, what i myself should and shouldnt do, the truth of Salvation and that it is by grace and not works, everything.

God is so awesome and He will show you...
God bless you on your journey to finding the right "denomination" for you!

:-)

I can't believe not one single person had the guts to say that their sect is the right one when you know there are plenty of people that believe that.

One person said you have to teach the trinity to be real. Do you understand that that wasn't decided until 325 AD? It took 300 years after Jesus died for people to come to the conclusion that that was official. Imagine how many generations come and go in 320 years.
If I believe that Jesus died for our sins but NOT that the is the same being as god, I'm going to hell? At least you almost had the guts to say it....

None. God doesn't care about man's religions. He wants a relationship with you as a person. Most denominations CAN lead you to Him, but you have to be personally called by God to have relationship with Him. The good news is that if you are looking, you WERE called. So study your bible prayerfully, that you might get to know Him.

I was thinking about that the other day in Church. In THIS Church I go to (Although I grew up Episcopal, and Presbyterian), there are VERY educated people. One of which is a PhD in Physics. During our service last week, it HIT me. The Atomic Bomb took a VERY large atom, for it to make a VERY large EXPLOSSION! It's Nucleus is VERY large ALSO, with MANY protons and neutrons. Isn't the Body of Christ, all believers and obeyers, like an atomic atom? Doesn't it take ALL faiths of Christianity to get JESUS' message to the world?
