I say comb, you can do the roots and hair line better with a hot comb.

I have to agree with all of the girls who said the comb is better than the iron. I wore my hair natural for 2 years and I have super thick hair. When I would straighten it with the iron it would fro out by the end of the day, but when I used the comb it lasted at least a week. However, if you have thin hair the iron would work fine, but you won't get your ends as smooth.

A thin straightening iron is the best for all types of hair. Choose the thinnest one you can find, because the thinner the iron, the less damage it does to your hair and the less your hair will dry out. A straightening comb is okay for semi-straight hair, but if your hair is wavy, curly or hard to handle, then use a straightening iron. Ceramic irons are one of the best.

I particularly have somewhat coarse, tightly curled hair, yet i offered a ceramic flat-iron by using Jilbere at Sally's for about $30 some years in the past and that i like it, it has rather some temperature settings and might get somewhat warm. It does a good activity at straightening my hair. I used to have a Conair iron that still left my hair frizzy no rely what number situations I ran it over a factor.

It's very hard to get the edges of your hair with a straigtening iron. They now make ceramic straightening iron and comb now. I think if used correctly either will work for you.

If you're referring to African-American hair, I would probably opt for the comb as opposed to the iron. Despite its coarser texture, the hair of black women is actually very delicate. Therefore, I would use extreme caution with heat appliances or straightening chemicals. You might want to check with a hair salon that caters to black women. They could probably tell you the best methods to safely straighten your hair without causing damage or breakage.

As an African American female I have never had a perm and I love to get my hair straighten using the iron.

I have medium lenght extremely thick unmanagemable hair and for me the pressing with a comb works best!

The comb is for the roots and the flat iron is always better, it gets it real straight.

A iron is 3x better than a comb! Just don't get a cheap iron!

For thicker hair use a comb, for thinner hair either will work. Be sure to use some sort of oil to shield the hair from breaking off from applying heat to it.
