I have never seen ajockey with facial hair.
I'm told that it is against jockey club rules.
Do es the same rule apply in the US?

I've had a look through the Jockey Club Rules for 2006 and cannot find a specific rule that relates to facial hair.

It is true that you do not see jockeys with beards and moustaches, and I can only think that this is down to streamlining. I very much doubt it has anything to do with weight, as jockeys are permitted to be very slightly under their designated weight to allow for fluid loss on hot days.

A lot of it may also be tradition: many trainers 20/30 years ago used to insist that jockeys turned up to ride out in the morning wearing a shirt and tie (if you see any of the old boys that have been in racing all their lives, many of them still do). Maybe they also insisted that they turned up clean shaven, hence no facial hair.

One of life's little mysteries!

the fast answer is they're allowed. there is not any rule asserting that they won't be able to have facial hair. this isn't any longer something to do with weight or aerodynamics, it is an hassle-free case of finding smart and convenience. this question has been asked countless situations in the previous couple of months - why do no longer you seem up those resolved questions for greater info.

This sounds silly but true. Its all to do with the weight,it adds on ounces. Each jockey is assigned a specific weight for each horse it rides.

My partner used to be a bookie.
