Towing capacity is probably around 1500-2000 #, Extra body weight and 4x4 configurations due limit the towing capacity on Fords, so it was good you put that there. The weak link is not the clutch as people are saying, it has a hydraulic clutch just like the ones used on F150. The weak links are lack of power (by some), but the transmission is real problem.
Ford uses a Mazda tranny, which uses a splash type dipper to lubricate and cool the tranny. I've asked this regarding my 96' Ranger 3.0L V6 5 speed because autos were designed to pull 5000 but mine is limited to 2200#. I think you may have 4.10 gearing too which makes truck a little snappier compared to my 3.73 rear ratio.
Your engine makes almost as much HP and tourque as my truck so that should not be a problem. Will not be a speed demon though, and take it easy in hills. Enjoy..... nice truck

Is yours the 2.5 gas or diesel? To respond to the answer posted earlier, yes, the engine and frame have to do with towing ability, but bear in mind, the more truck the engine has to move around, the less payload it can tow. And BTW, manual trannys can do just fine towing, just keep it one gear lower than you normally would, and take it easy to avoid overheating.
If you are outside of the U.S. and are referring to the 2.5l DuraTorq diesel, I hear that it can tow up to three tons. If this is a two-wheel drive gas pickup (U.S. model), your max towing capacity is 1565 lbs. with the regular cab. A single jetski should be fine, but don't expect to set any speed records on your way to the boat launch.

if its only going the 20 miles and staying there till eventually you get a higher truck then do not mission about it if you're going to apply it lots in the course of the summer then you fairly will want a higher truck the ranger will be to small for the camper its no longer a lot the truck because it really is the engine its to small the tow potential is the load of the ranger and the load of what you opt for to tow

Cab & bed are irrelevant to towing . . . it is all about the motor and transmission. Check the owners manual but 2.5 sounds like a real small engine and tranys with clutch are a towing challenge but maybe a very light trailer & ski.

Yes you can, You can tow more than you think its a ford truck and has a small motor but its a ford and it will pull thats a fact have two ,and I tow a 21 foot fith-wheel on one, and it has 170,000 trouble free miles on it and runs like new still, so you wont go 100, miles perhour towing but you will be fine

yes but I wouldn't recommend it if you live in an overly hilly or mountainous area as you will more than likely burn out the clutch
