I have a 2000 Hyundai Elantra. The a/c blows cold but when I switch the heater on nothing happens. I can feel the air blowing from the compressor but no heat. Is this an easy/inexpensive fix?

If you're going to explain please be somewhat detailed. I've never worked on a car before. :(

If you don't know how to fix it bring it to a mechanic. It sounds like your heater core, or heater control valve is broken. I've seem too many people try to fix something they thought was wrong only to spend tons of $$ fixing different things when it was something simple. At least pay $30 to have a mechanic check it out and tell you what is wrong, then go about trying to fix that one thing.

Penwater is most likely right, the problem is likely a clogged heater hose, clogged heater core, or faulty heater control valve (or a broken cable controlling it). If the car overheats, the problem could be a thermostat stuck closed.

When I first saw this, I thought it said "Why doesn't my cat heater work?"

I had a truck that the heater didn't work in. It had something to do with a heat pump in the engine, though I do not recall the specifics.

Regardless, I hope you are keeping your cat warm.

Sounds as if the switch is running the air thru the vent rather than the heater core. sucks....you know this is gonna cost more than its worth.
