There is NO POLITE WAY! Just tell the truth and get on with your life. I had to do this to my mother. I stopped talking to her, taking her calls, visiting, letters were returned to her unopened. She got the point eventually that I meant what I said. It is hard sometimes, but I am better off. Not everyone has a good parent. Mine was so toxic she made my life HELL all the time. Best of Luck!!!

First off, I'd never say forever. I would however, make it clear that you don't like rearranging your life to fit her circumstances. If it is abusive, or dangerous situations she is causing, tell her you have zero tolerance for it. If you want to help her straighten up, set some grounds rules. Make the rules, and consequences for breaking them clear from the start. If she has a problem with that, then tell her to come back when she can get with the program.

How about;
"Mum, we love you so much and things have been tough for you with dad in jail and all, also, I would like you to know how all this is affecting my family. We love you alot however, there are some concerns we have which I would like to address with you.........(fill in the blanks, u have the details).......our door is always open however, your dissapearance without letting us know has caused so much strain on us, so next time, I am afraid these are the conditions if you would like to come and spend time with us. Please understand I have a family also to take care of and I would like to ensure they understand we are taking care of their needs too. Okay mum? Thanks! VOILA!

think carefully about forever, its a long time, but if u want it that way and feel that this is the only way , then tell her to get out and stay out in a calm and sincere manner and once said don't back up from that. she cant come in if u don't invite her. it s like the old vampire myth.

theres never a nice way to tell ur mom to get out of ur life and stay...but talk to her be like mom i want u to leave me alone i dont wanna be hurt and i dont wanna hurt u! i think it would be easier if u went away it would be easier on both of us! something that but just say it kindly cuz remember she is ur mom and she most likely does love u!

you could try telling her that you want some space becuase you want to learn who yoiu are and all.. or a tupid thing to do would be to go somewhere far away and change yor identity and name and marry someone.. lol jk jk .. just talk to her and if she reacts badly then try to use what she said and 1) use it agianst her 2)help you understand why shde wants to be part of your life.

I can't imagine even uttering the words, "Mom go away, we don't want you here." You must have a very dysfunctional family. I am glad I do not know you.

Catch her alone one day and tell her, exactly how you feel. And that you don't want your children or family members exposed to that type of instability.
