You know, they have neither hearts nor brains. I really wish a crazed lunatic would get these westboro a**holes, tie them up and then execute them all.
The deaths of these innocent children were a tragedy. Killing the westboro freaks clearly not be.

I have commented on them here, before, glad to do so again. The protesting is out of line, and out of place. The grieving family did not make the policy, the dead soldier likely not gay [and so what if they are], and the family has probably just lost all ties with the military, their soldier is dead. A funeral often has religious ties. It is a disrespect of the religious part of a funeral, and a slap in the face to the family who believes differently than the protesters. Just because there is a military continguent for a burial with military honors present, does not give people the right to interupt with protest. Some families refuse the honors, anyway. The soldiers present are specially trained, they are busy with their ceremonial duties, they pay little or no attention to anything besides their ceremony.
This is yet another example of my religion, my way, the rest of you are going to hell. It is a shame that we have to take attention away from our govenment's more pressing problems, to legislate laws preventing protests at a funeral, but that is what this group is after, attention.
What is is the deal, they protest gays in the military, but not the war itself? Do they ignore the killing and death, to protest a policy?
My suggestion for them is to take their protests to the people who made the policy, go bother the White House Secret Service, or the Pentagon guard, and leave the mourners alone.
One thing I do not understand, why are they appearring at funerals? The TV and media coverage? The people at the funeral can do little about the policy, except fire off a letter to a government official. And the media finally isn't covering many of the events, thank goodness.
Now they are going to bother the Amish people, who spend their lives avoiding attention from the outside world.
By the way, the Amish do not like or believe in photographs, but here is the media running all around Lancaster County with cameras and telephoto lenses, taking pictures of the Amish at work, at the funerals. Talk about disrespectful! Is nothing sacred anymore?
Thanks for allowing me to talk from my soapbox, and forgive my spelling, spellcheck is down, again.

I do not see how these people can call it a church. They are sick sick people. There is no reason in the world to protest at an Amish funeral. Amish people are some of the most peaceful people in the world. I think the these horrible people need to just go away.

I don't know where to begin. They are beyond insane.
Last night, I happened to catch a radio interview with one of the Westboro folks on the Mike Gallagher show. The guest rejoiced that the dead Amish girls "are in hell." I couldn't belive it. These guys would be hilarious if they weren't so horrifying.
Anyway, the host pleaded to the church not to show up at the funeral. They refused. He offered them money and they refused. Finally he offered them one hour of solo air time on his show in exchange for calling off the picketting. They agreed. That show is tonight. For more info check out Mr. Gallagher's website at:

I've visited that website before. What a bunch of total crazies. No wonder many thinking people have left the church. I used to worship at a large evangelical church, but I never could reconcile the thought of hating gays like most of the "conservative/evangelical" churches do. We should be hearing political opinions in another forum besides tax-exempt churches. I try to practice tolerance, but the people in this Westboro church deserve some of their own medicine - I say line 'em up and shoot 'em.

They're all a bunch of nuts. Thank you Mike Gallagher for allowing them to speak and stopping them from protesting the funerals. I listened to the show and now I'm more convinced that they're freaks.

When they protest the funeral of soldiers, I am appalled. The funerals they are protesting are for those that are dying defending the very rights these horses behinds are exercising.
The are an embarrassment to humanity. They use the tragedies of others to promote their twisted hatred and ignorance.

They aren't even protesting the war, though! They're protesting gay people. What do those poor amish kids have to do with gay people? What do soldiers that died have to do with gay people? I don't agree with the war, but the people that died and their families deserve respect and dignity.
We had problems with them around St. Louis last year and we put a stop to their crap.

... Wait, what? They protest the funerals of soldiers to protest the war (assholes) and they protest performances of a play written by a gay man (assholes), but WHAT?
I mean, what the hell are they even trying to protest here? Learning? Going to school like you're supposed to? Getting shot?
That thing is happening in my head again.
The thing where I see some guy interrupting their protests with a flamethrower.
That thing.

I've been through their site before. Assuming that it's not all an elaborate hoax, they are truly vile people. I take comfort in knowing that their cause will eventually consume itself.
At the same time, it's vitally important that they are afforded the right to express their viewpoints and spread their message. It's important for people to see how ugly such hatred is.

Luckily, they've agreed not to protest.
Unfortunately, in order to agree not to protest, a representative (probably Shirley Phelps-Roper, one of the most psychotic members of the family) is going to appear on the Mike Gallagher radio show.
These people are sick, sad individuals...
