is what i am going to name my baby boy due soon. But i am really not likeing Benny as a nickname. I think Ben or even Benji sounds so much nicer. Well... grandma insists on calling him Benny despite my efforts . How can i break this habit? or is it a lost cause that ill have to learn to live with?

We plan on naming our son Benjamin Joseph in December when he's born. I know people are going to try to call him B.J. or Benny. You just need to make it clear to everyone when they call him somethign other than his name that "His name is Ben" or "Benjamin". I don't like Benji...Reminds me too much of the dog.

LMFAO!! me and my husband just ended this debate 3 days ago. he liked the name Benjamin and wanted to nickname him Benny. i don't like that nickname and i don't want people calling him Benji on account of that ugly TV mutt. So I veto'd that name.
but at this point, anyone can nickname anyone anything. so it's a lost cause. at some point when he gets to school, your child will come running home crying cuz someone called his some variation of his name. at least she's doing it from love and not to make him cry. so let her call him anything she wants. it's really not harmful.

First of all..........how old is Grandma? If this was my situation hun I would tell Grandma that when you hear the name Benny you hear the Benny Hill show which is a disgusting show out of London about a man thats posessed with womens boobs. And I would tell this to her face. Ask her kindly if she would consider calling YOUR baby the name the you use............the baby could be confused if you call him one name and Grandma calls him another name. Think about it :) Good Luck !!!

Its Grammy let her do as she wants.... If your son doesn't like it when he gets older he will tell her.
