Like for example, we Chinese usually boil rice to make it into a goey mixture to eat when we are sick because we believe that it is good for us as it contains high amounts of water which is gd for the body when we lose water during sickness.

What about the Westerners? Do you eat the same? or do you cook something else? Am really curious.

Chicken noodle soup made with nice soft carrots and onion and garlic. Onion and garlic are supposed to have some healthy qualities. But it is just what we grew up with, both eastern and western are good ways to get some liquid and calories into someone who has an iffy tummy.

Chicken soup is the best answer. Often in place of a food people suggest hot tea with lemon and honey if the illness a cold. Sometimes its recommended to put a little whiskey in the tea mixture to make a "hot toddy"--this is basically a sleep aid. So it appears that foods with lots of water and hot beverages may be cross cultural remedies.

The B.R.A.T. diet is popular for people with the flu. It consists of bananas, rice, applesauce and dry toast, it's supposed to keep a sick person nourished with easy to digest foods.

BTW, I remember eating the same rice porridge as a kid (I am Japanese), when I was sick.

The "brat diet" is good for children when they are sick. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast, but normally it's chicken noodle soup

Ni hao pengyou,

Well...you could just drink warm water. Westerners usually drink chicken soup. But again...same thing with the water. Its all about fluid intake.

It is made with chicken broth.....much the same as chicken soup. Seems to be a universal thing. I hope this isn't a slur, but we call it Jewish Penicillin.

In general, we have chicken noodle soup. If someone has an upset stomach, they will often have saltine crackers and 7up. Those are both easy on the stomach.
