I have a large landscape painting by Bernhardt and I would like to find out the value of the work. Thank you for your time.

You should contact an Auction house that deal in Fine Art. They will be able to tell you more. You can look them up on the internet in Yahoo by putting FINE ART AUCTION in the search line. Here are a few:

One of the reigning authorities on paintings is an auction house by the name of Butterfield and Butterfield. If you send them a photo of it they will not only tell you how much it would be worth if you sold it, but also as much information as possible about the author.

Their evaluation is enough to actually insure the piece for whatever they appraise it at. I don't remember their address -- but they are in San Jose, California.
