Yes, because you are speaking into her future. As a mother, you go girl! You want your baby girl to have a unique name that isn't used often and it is a good thing to be different instead of following the crowd!

Well baby names are often made due to an emotional attachment by a parent or parents.
The key I think is to step back and think- my kid will have to spell this and probably be teased at some point.
A key example is a High School friend, last name Hyman, his brother- I kid you not, was named -Buster.
That's virtual child abuse.
Serenity does tend to put a certain preemptive notion on the child.
But it's a lot better than many others. If I hear about another Brittany, or one mom who names her kids after Continents, (AnaAntartica, AnaAfrica, Anamerica, Anaeuopia, Anaisia,) I always wondered what would happen if she had more than five kids, but I digress.
So as names go- that's not a bad one, the key is how will she like it.
The only other Serenity I knew- wanted to be call Sam. Not Samantha, or Sammy, but Sam.

No. Serenity is not a name, serenity is a "state of being serene, not a name for a person."

I like names that are different, especially if there is meaning behind the name. My daughter Dacia Rochelle ( Day-sha). We haven't run into anyone with that name, she loves feeling unique and she likes her name because it makes her feel strong and everyone in school knows who she is. My other daughter is Brooklyn Rayne, I loved the name and we are huge Yankees fans so it worked for us. I like the Serenity, It's pretty, what are you going to use for a middle name? Serenity Dawn is kinda nice.Good Luck with your new little one,

She'll have trouble in school with a name like this. I have an unusual, but human name. It was bad enough already. I love it now, but back in school I was crying. I kept asking my mom why didn't she name me something normal. Serenity can be an OK middle name if you insist, but please give her a normal first name. She can decide to go by middle name if she likes it, or she can keep just the middle initial if she dislikes it.
This name carries too much pressure to fit the charachter. I'm against all unnecessary pressures in life.

I think you should have named your daughter whatever you wanted to. Because she is your daughter and all that matters is what you want for her. Serenity would have been perfect for her if that's what you thought.

Its your baby, you have the right to name it "whatever."
We need diversty in all are names.
For example there are too many Ashely's out there, so Serenity sounds like a good name to me.
