No.

Severely mentally challenged people, like children, do not know the difference between right and wrong.

Therefore they cannot sin and do not need to repent.

With love in Christ.

No. You only go to hell if you understand that what you have done is a sin and you do it anyway. I can't believe that you would ask a question like this. Mentally challenged people have enough to deal with in this life to be damned in the next life before they have even been given a chance to soar.

Of course not.
I think you know that already. If they are not lucid enough to repent for their sin, I don't think they can be held responsible for what they do either. I think they are special people in the eyes of God, and they will have a special place in heaven. They will be whole again and they are here for a reason.

Look there is an age of accountability for our sins. It is a mental age not a chronological one. Anyone under that age is not responsible for their actions, and therefore they are allowed into Heaven.
The age is approximately 5.

well... if you go with the mythology that there is a hell (which I don't) then the mentally challenged people would go to heaven if they were not able to understand the nature of sin and followed the mythology which you are talking about. It is those who understand the concept of sin and then don't do anything about it what have punishments waiting. On the other hand, who knows? If the Christain god is in charge he ahs changed his mind thousands of times according your book of mythology.

Great question. This is where we as a people gotta be practical when we interpret the holy scriptures...more so the concept of heaven and hell.

Only God has the mental capacity to decide who goes where. You see, when judging, a lot of situations/factors must be taken into consideration. You may not be able to afford a lush thanksgiving but your heart is pure. He is not human. He sees and knows every thing.

Despite your circumstances...God knows who you are.

Mentally challenged people are the most devoutly religious people around. and they do indeed go to God like little children, full of trust, joy, and peace. Isn't that what Jesus said we all should do?

Since they are "SLOW" does not mean they don't love God.

Actually when I used to go to church there were special people that went and enjoyed themselves very much.

QUESTION FOR YOU!

If mentally challenged people CAN ask God for forgiveness why can't you? It seems the people who we deem "retarded" actually have a better moral sense than "US NORMAL" people.

Yes, i am afraid they do, the bible says that the only to heaven is through christ and if mentally challenged people don't do that then they do go to hell. But, mentally challenged people can go to Heaven, they can repent, it is their choice, we just have to teach them about the bible, and they CAN learn

The Bible says He that knows little, little is required. He that knows a lot, a lot is required.I believe if they have the mind and emotions of a little child, they are seen as little children in God's eyes. I also believe that we do not know how their heart is with God, so don't Judge them.
